K stick with me for a minute on this one. Be-all-end-all raid scene fix aka. Best idea ever.
First of totally not classic, ill call myself out. Anyway drop variance on spawn times but shrink all raid mobs by 75% and add random spawn locations. Ikr, awesome. Instantly mobilization becomes more important as the whole game gets the ranger track blanket. Everyone gets a fair shake at finding trakanon in the ct gator pit AND mobilizing for it, which also becomes an adventure again. Prevents all this poopsocking business and keeps things fresh. Also ct holding court on emperor crush's throne is sure to provide some lulz.

In Soviet Russia, raid mobs spawn YOU!

Some raid targets could actually have a multitude of spawn locations that, while obviously not classic, could easily be justified in roleplaying terms while achieving the intended result.

Doesn't Venril Sathir ever want to visit Drusella? He would need to traverse the Dreadlands, Frontier Mountains, and the Overthere. During his journey, he decides that it would be smart to bring his lady a gift of jewelry, so he raids the Temple of Droga in search of a powerful soothsayer rumored to carry a magical earring. Having sought out and acquired his prize, he rests for the night before resuming his journey to Charasis.

Under this scenario, an intrepid TMO tracker in search of adventure and treasure may very well find Venril Sathir in KC, deep in Droga, Charasis, or some appropriate location within DL, FM, or OT.

That would be a blast if it were implemented !!

I'm for it if it applies to VP mobs.

will.
never.
happen.

simply because its *too* not classic. I understand that raid scene here is already not classic, but thats only because gms really want to discourage poopsocking (and raid guilds wont agree on rotation.... so silly imo). Moving raid mobs around is just never going to happen.

however,

said gnome should still cover self in tartar/bbq sauce and allow himself to be eaten. best idea ever.

It would be cool...

I'd be interested in what VS's mechanics would be for the zones that are so low level to him. It'd be hilarious to see him clear out all the giants while going through FM. Or, like the GM events back in early live, he would have level-appropriate players scattering like roaches from a kitchen light. Heh, that thought reminds me of one night in 1999 in Unrest... 4 GMs playing named ogres came spilling out of the basement slaughtering everyone. As players made their way back for corpses, the word went out and all the big guns of the server began making their way to the cauldron...

You know what? This may be a tad more classic of an idea than we think... a marriage of code-scripted and GM events.

It'd be one hell of a fuck ton of work though, that's for sure.

happen.

It has happened before. e.g. trakanon in sky fire hanging with his boy talendor. (and yes, his trak touch still translocated people to seb.)

Would be very easy to implement this to happen once a month or so.

Better idea.

Offer exclusive spawning of any epic mob for donations to the server.

Trakanon $100
Venril Sath $75
Noble Djorn $200
Nagafen $25
Awake the sleeper $1

These are awfully low considering TMO's prices. Here is a more accurate breakdown, using Evelinn's 100k/$2.94:
Trakanon: $4500
Venril Sathir: $1500
Noble Djorn: $200 (no conversion found)
Nagafen: $150-200
Sleeper: Priceless

I think if Sony got wind of that arrangement, they might raise an eyebrow.
