Bit of my history. In EQ from 99-04 I played a Warrior and rogue. Loved it, but too simplistic for what I want now.
I'd enjoy tanking. I rolled a paladin, but they just seem god awful, not getting any real aggro spells till 30. I know on live they're decent but it seems like they're just horrible until later expansions.
What are Shadowknights like? In demand? Decent in these early expansions? I never had much experience with them.
My other possible choice was Bard. But I seem to see a toooooooonnnn of bards and I know that can lead to a miserable time finding groups later on.
Just looking for a little wisdom in general here I guess, what's decent, what's overplayed, what will keep me able to find groups pretty regularly. 1999 was a long time ago to my old brain ;) thanks in advance.

Play encourage super over powered and in demand
I'd recommend a Shadowknight. Great group tanks, early high aggro spells, Feign death makes you a great puller, fun class to play in general.
If gnomes could be sk's on this server, I'd roll one immediately

I think I will try the SK. I have a lot of small bronze on my Paladin over near Felwithe. So I'll make a Dark Elf so I can use it. I have a PGT for a weapon... What are some affordable starter 2h weapons I should look for? Also I do not have a guild, was wondering if I could find someone willing to assist me in transferring my bronze over. Thanks for the advice all :)

I've got a druid that could help out with moving your stuff. Send a tell to Eshen if you see him.

Yeah, sounds like SK might be right for the OP if he wants to tank but also wants to have more (cool) things to do than a warrior/rogue. SKs are godly pullers for more than just FD, too. Clicky insta-invis, IVU, hide, dots, ranged attacks, a pet, harmshield, AND feign death... wow.

I'd go Troll but the armor I have is sized for small races only. So Dark Elf it is... I like Dark Elves a lot to boot. Thanks Eshen, I'll send a tell when I get on later.

Also does anyone know of any leveling type guilds? I'd love to have a set group of people to group with, makes things so much more fun.

You will probably quit with the Hybrid penality on here. SK, Ranger and Pally least played on here for a reason. :( And most of the Bards you see online are just Mules in EC Tunnel. Another Hybrid. Give it up while you still have a chance.

Thanks Otterdog, I will do so. Exp penalty doesn't dissuade me. If I had medium Bronze instead of small I would go human though to offset it a bit.

The trollforce is strong in this one.

I played an SK on live for over five years and this time I figured I would be something useful.
Shadowknights are the most selfish class. You can't tank as well as a warrior, rez, buff, port, track, open doors, heal, and you exp penalty the group.
You are built to solo and be alone. You might as well make a Necro.
About a year ago a friend invited me to play again free on live with a decked out boosted 55 of your choice. I made a druid. They are fun and op. This seems to be the most commonly class played on P99 as well.
This game is about community at best. If you want to make a Shadowknight go for it, but I'd suggest it be your second toon. You have so many better options to relive the glory days. There are no greener pastures than this.

I played a Warrior for years on live. It is a boring, brainless endeavor that I will never do again. SK are "selfish" but at the same time they seem to be the #1 tank for EXP groups, providing the most safety and speed for the group. My only other possible choices are Bard or Shaman, but Shaman seem WAY overplayed. Like whoa. They're the second most populous class it seems. I'm not into that. Bards seem less populated and I was told on here even a lot of those are EC bots? Maybe bard would be better, then? I could use my armor still.

You know the game, you know the classes, play whatever the Fu*K you want and enjoy the game...it will be a while before you get high lvl and it is up to YOU to make your toon valuable to others.

I'd say stick with the SK, at least till you start getting spells and see how you like it. Get neat stuff like harm touch, invis, ivu, feign death, pet, etc. Fun class to play in my opinion. Good exp tank and you can solo a bit.
I would say avoid the bard, very boring class. Thats my opinion anyways.

I'll just give you one tip : do NOT let a set of small banded or bronze decide what class nor race you will play dude. It's ABSOLUTELY insignificant in comparison to the time you'll be spending playing whatever it is you'll play, even up to lvl 10.
Play what race & class sounds fun to you or you'll drop the towel soon for sure. Want a big race make a big race. Want a tank, make a tank. Want a shaman, make a shaman,..

Played a Rogue to 60 here on P99 and a Ranger to 60 on live back in the day.
Started up a monk not too long ago and its probably the most fun ive had in a pretty good while. Would recommend that or either a bard.

Any time someone even mentions rolling a Shadow Knight to someone I feel nothing but joy.
Oh and Trolls>all, but I can only imagine how much that leveling rate sucks on blue (I play on Red with the inherent exp bonus).
