Example offer 100k to winner sell "tickets" at 2k per and wait for 60 people to do it and take 20k for yourself?
People set up casinos all the time. The odds are so horrible it is impossible not to make money.
If you're going to do a lottery, you'll have to be very open and specific with rules and build up some credibility.

yeah, i saw a guy the other day saying, as part of his "casino" pitch, something like...
"55-60, 555-560, 955-960 wins 20K!!!!"
well, player rolled a 55 first shot....
"WELL, UHHHH.... NO! YOU'D HAVE HAD TO ROLLED 56, 57, 58, or 59..... THATS WHAT "55-60" MEANS!!!!"

More so directed to the casinos in EC, trying to simulate card games via /random, the house edge isn't even slightly in favor of the house, it is HUGE.

There's some shitty casinos in EC, some worse than others. The best I've seen is 550+ doubles your money, 980+ trebles it.
However, some casino dudes go for 565+ and 990+. Shitty odds either way but still. The trick is to win off 1 roll and walk away - don't let them talk you into losing it all :D

i won 400k on a 100k bet on live during PoP, 1 roll against Garik on fennin ro , rolled a 999 out of 1000. he was doing 550+ double, 990-998 triple, and 999-1000 quadruple....
sometimes its bad to run a casino =P

most casinos on p99 would just camp with your 100k if they lost

From what I remember they tried to put some weird "lucky dip" system in to try and drain the plat/inflation on the servers? Anyone remember that? Not a lottery as such but some kind of NPC setup where you could win items in exchange for your plat.
There's no beating inflation of course :p

casinos are nothing but annoying roll spam, and they feel like they HAVE to set up right at the tunnel entrance, go a little deeper ffs no ones by shady.
at least try not to annoy the whole community with your ripp off games...

I tried to run a book for a bit, but it was way too much work, it was way too many screenshots and it was way too much running around.
Still owe someone named Trodu 1100 from the Pats-Ravens game, so if anyone knows them, send me a PM.

Everyone I know called it the casino, it was in Shadowhaven. You bought coins for 100ish pp each and handed them in, you would win food, illusion potions, less commonly Prayers of Life all sorts of other random things, the big prizes though were Golden Tickets which you could give to a particular NPC that would net you Earthshakers, Scimitar of the Mistwalker, and a few other items that escape me at the moment.

You can actually win a DE guise from it.

There was also an extremely rare set of gloves with like 50 PR and a clicky I think?
Do those exist on this server?

i think in LoY sony put a game controlled lotto in the Bazzar zone i think. Its been so long but I do remember a system like that they put in to basically eat plat.
Im sure others will help me recall things correctly
Yes that was it - I never played because I was never a plat whore but I always liked the idea. By LoY the plat situation was getting out of hand, bazaar items were all costing at least 10kpp and..yeah, good idea in theory :p

Someone should find out what the odds of getting a fungi tunic from that ingame casino in shadow haven was. And have people pay you 100p, then /rand 40000 or whatever the odds were, and if they get whatever 1 number you designate out of it, they win a fungi (provided you have one to gamble with)

I ran a casino for awhile called Mandalaybay, with the Casino guild tag. It can be very profitable, but anyone who remembers mine knows that I gave almost everything away to random people through /roll contests or whatever.
I did roulette as my main starting game, with actual casino odds. /random 0 37, 0 and 37 being the house numbers 0 and 00. You could play it just like regular roulette, combining bets etc. Betting a number and hitting it paid out 35x, and I paid that out many times while I was running it. Most people just played even/odd which was far and away the best odds casino game on the server at the time.
The casinos that do the 550+ games, with 990+ only paying out like 3 or 4x the bet are just obnoxious. Having to hit a 1/100 to get paid out 4x? Ridiculous.
Over time, I had a LOT of action and make a few hundred k in plat. The keys are that you need to start with a decent bankroll and be ready to absorb some losses.
But in the end, the house always win.
EDIT: Oh, and I also ran this: http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=23922&highlight=powerball
Ended up being pretty successful and fun.
