This is a horrible troll question.

Short story.

I was playing a 32 Paladin the other day, I logged in and advertised LFG on global ooc and guild chat. Two druids around level 30 wanted to join. Great. Over the next 20 minutes we picked up a shaman, a enchanter and a cleric. We had unrest all to ourselves. Starting in the fireplace room we quickly cleared all of the mobs including the ph for barkeep, undead knight, and the magi and also clearing the reanimated hand. We cleared all the mobs and our biggest down time was waiting for repops, after a few rounds of upgrade loots we decided to try basement. A slow march, technically the "crawl" we all dream about to the undead dwarf at the bottom. We managed to clear all the mobs and eventually set up camp in his room laying claim to the entirety of unrest at level collecting upgrade drops along the way for members of our guild <Fresh>.

If that is not a everquest experience we all can appreciate I do not know what is nor is it a world that I want to live in.

(grief disclaimer** There was none and this is not rare, we did encounter pvp a number of times over the week leading up to this but were usually able to regroup after a bit and on other occasions chase the would-be PK away**)

Re-posting my I love Red post...still applies. I haven't played much of anything lately due to RL but Red was a blast and I would still highly recommend it.

----

Let me preface this with saying that I am fairly well known on the server as a trusted and neutral party in most things, so before you rage and flame, actually read what I have to say. Then feel free to rage and flame.

I know I know...another Dead99 thread on the Blue forums. Let me apologize in advance as till a week ago I felt the same way as you. Who cares about Red?

But wait! Between being bored out of my skull on blue and the new changes to Red (no XP loss to PVP death, PNP rules enforced, +-4 Lvl PVP range, ~280% XP Bonus in a full group), I recently decided to give it a try.

I have been pleasantly surprised to say the least.

-People have been more helpful and friendly on Red than you see on Blue.

-Chat has been fine, a little shit talking but that's part of PVP, they are banning people for any racial slurs etc in chat that has driven a lot of us away from Red. So far, Red chat has been tamer than Blue. I think I've seen “you mad” once.

-Group XP bonus is INSANE...seriously...2% - 3% a kill in a full group last night. ~280% XP Bonus in a full group.

-As far as Griefing goes I have not experienced it yet. I had a monk chase me around Kurns for a bit but was able to double zone and hide to lose him. (didn’t have my spells for current level and he was yellow)

-And finally Raiding...while I haven’t had a chance to get this far on Red personally, I have seen the PvP text and spoke with raiders and with very little variance on Red, raiding basically comes down to the raiding guilds squaring off prior to the mob spawning and having a massive battle to decide who gets the kill. This sounds like a lot more fun than FTE Jav spam personally, or a rotation for that matter.

As you can see, my PVP has been pretty limited so far. Mostly this is due to the fact that anyone who can PVP with you (+-4 Lvls) is who you want to group with to get that sweet sweet bonus XP.

Which pretty much makes Red99 a Blubies PVE paradise. No waiting hours for camps, AC wanders around and dies to NPCs, Verina Tomb up for days on end in Nek...

The ONLY downside to Red at this point is the low population, but even with that there is almost always one group in each of the hot dungeons and they invite ANY class due to the new XP bonus mechanics. Now is the time to roll that Hybrid you have always wanted but didn’t due to XP penalty and the fact that no one wants you in a group due to it.

Now is the time to roll anything you want here really, you can still box your blue character while playing on red. So sit in the tunnel making fat stacks on Blue while you play Red. You will not regret it.

Many gains are being had on Red99. There are no waits for things. Just gains.

The population is rising, people are around in noob zones, lots of higher levels willing to help, and the concerns or problems many have with rolling here are being resolved DAILY.

Fun times, pals. Come on over.

Forced beta solved some problems. It caused a drop in Blue pop by 200, and a rise in Red by 20.

Rolled a bard to give it a try. Can't level past 4 because there are no other low level players I can find :(

Easy to solo a bard to at least level 10.

Red is a great experience. I know you, you're like me, you read these posts that say "you can actually KILL that motherfucker that is camping that shitty item you want!" and think, "yea I probably won't like that".

And then it happens.

And you have a boner for days.

Dragons up for hours to days at a time before being killed. Raids actually clear to the mob before killing it. What a change of pace.

I remember on live I played almost in constant fear. What was up over that hill? What was at the bottom of this dungeon? What if I died out here all by myself?

You get that here, and it makes a game that is not challenging in 2014 actually a thrill to play.

10/10, would red again

Took the plunge today, rolled a Paladin and am currently lvl 3. A nice player walked by and gave me some feathered leggings! Anyone wanna hook up a lowbie Paladin on red, let me know! Getting some bronze armor or something and a somewhat decent weapon would be awesome. I'd be willing to trade some blue PP for red...send me PM.
