Yes, the robe is an upgrade for you. Yes, you can equip the robe immediately. And yes, my bard would sell the robe in EC and use the plat for upgrades he can use. The end result is the same - that item helps my bard with an upgrade just as it helps your enchanter with an upgrade. Your stance is that because you can equip the item you are the only one for whom it is helpful and that is simply not true.
As many others have said, guild/friend groups are great for doing NBG. A group of random strangers is 99% chance going to be a greed group and I honestly have no idea how you could have leveled that high without knowing that.

Alright tenlaar. I see the point now. I assumed something that, on this server, just does not float. People are running toons in higher level zones to get resources for other characters, and there is nothing wrong with that per se. I *would* still argue that is kind of not classic, but p99 is not classic. It is a classic simulator.
I should have approached the situation not slipping into my old mindset. Which is strict nbg unless the item is useful for so many classes the notion becomes silly. I do still think that nbg is best, though.
So, I should have offered to trade some items I already had on me for the robe. I think I have a couple items on me currently worth 3-5k all total.
But I will repeat myself, I just got taken aback nbg was not the norm. NBG is a good rule of thumb. I assumed it held in PUG's.
