Trump was kinda upset at Putin's nuke behavior and we have a bad track record here, going back to the 80s and more. A lot of people are questioning if we can even do anything about it.

I don't think Russia can nuke us dead without mutually assured destruction. But I wonder what this was, just a show of force to make Putin feel comfortable and legitimize him further so he didn't have to deal with 1 contentious thing? Afraid Trump would have gone off on a tangent? Why is the press, especially a pretty independent and cool and normal reporter from The Nation in such need of being reigned in and controlled in public, on a global scale?

The Nation is a really good publication. They've got some things wrong in the past, but if you really care about military matters, they are ruthlessly blunt and factual.
