If there was no humans the guns could fight it out among themselves without humans getting hurt.

Until then however, people will always manipulate guns into hurting other people. I for one want to be able to have the same insurance as those people.

If you don't want an AR15 because you think the .223/5.56 is weak then go with an AR10 which is 7.62/.308.

go for the AR 15, owning both ak and AR i love my AR way more, though i will say my AR jams alot more than my AK but thats the only flaw

So I suppose you are also regularly burning flags to support the first amendment and your freedom? If not I would volunteer to do this for you.

Funny enough, burning a flag is the proper way to dispose of an american flag respectfully.

its been mentioned a few times, but take a look at the AR10/15 platforms. I got plenty of trigger time on both and prefer either over AKs.

also, it truly depends on your shooting style, your proficiency, your preferences. There's never going to be a "perfect gun" that you can buy. But, there is a "perfect gun for YOU" that you can find. find a pal who has different guns, pay for the rounds and have them take you to the range. see what you like.

Here's a decent comparison from the Ar15 community in comparsion of AK47s to AR10s.

1) reliability - Draw
2) accuracy - AR10
3) lethality - AR10
4) customization - Draw
5) ammo availability / compatibility - Draw
6) parts availability - AK
7) portability - Draw
8) recoil - Draw
9) flash/sound suppression -Draw

In terms of reliability, most AK's probably can't even do this well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCBcV2Nb2Wo

AR-15 is the only rifle you will ever need. I suggest getting in addition to a 5.56 upper a backup .22 upper for cheap plinking. Don't be too cheap, a good DDM4 is about 1500$. It will never jam (which you can clear in half a second with proper training anyway).

that lower/upper receiver attachment right there can definitely take a serious beating. Ran it over, detonated it at ground zero, threw it out of a helicopter. An armalite would be ruined.

AK-47 would hold up but I don't know how well. DDM4 is definitely on my interested list.

How is the ammo market right now on 7.62? 5.56 had some scarce times a few years back.

Top quality thread, I would offer advice but I'm more of the fertilizer truck bomb type of 2nd amendment supporter.

They do, they suck, I had one years ago. You cant hit the side of a barn with them, unless full auto. Urban? imo tactical shotgun hands down. Otherwise, AR15.
