Since the blue server is down what is the best recommended first class on a PvP server, this will be my first time on a PvP server.

Well you can't play a Melee there solo very well. Chanter, Druid, Wizard, maybe Mage. If you don't play a toon that can Bind you will spend half your life running back to Corpse.
