There was a business like this on Shark Tank:

Not saying you should abandon the idea or anything (the world needs competition!), just letting you know what else is out there.

I just wanted to mention a few things that you really should consider:

1. Although dogs are fairly omnivorous, grains (rice in your case) are not "natural" dog foods at all and not really that healthy for their diet, yes they are treats, but you should be using some form of meat meal.
2. Gluten free is irrelevant selling point because of 1
3. Your puree ingredients are probably not going to keep well unless you refrigerate or vacuum seal them very well, or bake the hell out of them.
4. Because of 3, and the fact that you are opting out of using any form of preservatives, shipping food with perishable ingredients might be a problem.
5. Some dogs can have peanut allergies. MAKE SURE YOU LABEL ACCORDINGLY or you will have to deal with law suits. Even allergic owners handling these treats can get severe allergic reactions, so keep this in mind!

Good luck with your project!

(You can probably ignore everything but #5 here)

1) There were a lot of avenues to explore for the recipe. This one baked well and held together nicely. I hope to add new flavors in the future if I can secure the funding, a meat based option wouldn't be a bad idea.
2) I know a lot of pet owners who have pups with a gluten intolerance. It's not an irrelevant selling point at all.
3) They're in the oven at a high temp for a pretty large amount of time and I recommend storage in an air-tight container.
4) Did the research, not a problemo
5) New Mexico has very strict labeling guidelines for pet food/treats. I've already developed all of the labels and they're very clear about what's in the treat.

Thank you for your feedback!

Why don't you fund your own hobby project?

Save it up yourself, earn it. You will feel better about it, to many people want hand outs now a days, be a hipster and do the opposite thing.
