Ya that'd be smarter.
I actually set this up with iptables and ipfilters in *nix for securing servers. Right down to the protocol level. It took one txt file and a simple list of IP ranges from the ISPs i wanted to leave open.
People are fuckin stupid mick. I love u.
Also ppl circumvent that by vpning a box :D
It stopped the majority of script kiddies however.
I'd worry more about card skimmers.
Most orgs are terrible and only rely on encryption and do not bother setting multiple layers of security so all it takes is one vulnerability to own their entire network. It would help if this was enforced better at the national level. That will cost $$ though and be prone to corruption. And or neglect or over reliance.
