So after about a week of trying I finally got the myconid spore king solo. I had been thinking a while about how to pull him and finally I came up with a cute trick: I could Dictate him, hit him with a Bracer of the Hidden, invis myself and zone out, and then when I came back I could facepull him normally (if you were stalking my WTB thread you could see I suddenly wanted a ton of see invis items).

Anyway, the spore king himself isn't actually that hard solo but I had an amazing combination of bad luck and stupidity.

1st attempt: got him to 20%, charm broke and for some reason i was ducking and couldn't use the strings

2nd attempt: came down with a group on the theory that they could kill it if I wiped, but Trysa pulled him before i had a pet. Then when I was running back from firepotting the tunic to an EC mule he spawned again.

3rd attempt: screwed up the pull (you have to break charm on him really fast or he will try and 'save' you from his guardians, get injured, and summon you)

4th attempt: pulled him and lagged out immediately afterwards (see screenshot above)

5th attempt: I forgot he dispelled after all this BS and he poofed charm twice

6th attempt: calm failed on the room of three where i was pulling my pet, I got 3 stun resists and nuked for 800 and died.

7th attempt: I got disgusted and called Svenn down. We invis pulled him normally, but he fell into the water near NG and summoned my pet under the world.

8th attempt: success. Technically this is cheating, but whatever, its my thread and I got tired of all the BS. Pulling him is easy; you can get a 60 enc and verify it yourself. Svenn pulled with some mini strength debuff that didn't affect the fight. A few screenies:

This time I gave the pet a few trash debuffs (mostly I just clicked the bracer of the hidden when the king dispelled). It gave me great pleasure to see 'froglok krup knight looks stupid'.

http://s12.postimage.org/tt3qtlekr/EQ000057.png

I had to heal the pet with a reaper of the dead. Normally even with a L48 pet that shouldn't be necessary but it ate quite a few rounds of melee while i was backing him up trying to get him out of the water. The other problem is that when the spore king runs through the jail he gets hasted by the illis shamans which really increases the degree of difficulty. I may try and clear them out at some point.

King about to die. Its quite possible to do him without clickies I think; I didn't have a single charm break and plenty of mana for another rapture/allure if I needed it. I'm so traumatized by this experience it may be a while.

Oh and nice job Shinko and Anthrax! I love the limit pushing. As you can see Anthrax was giving me the play by play of Ragefire.

Even though i have nothing of true substance to add, I am posting my screenshots of getting tola to 1% before he gated because the thread needs to be revived a bit. Ah so close.. In the end I should have nuked but I wasnt sure my pet was hasted and I rehasted him.. was really stupid.

1st SS: this is after my first pet died and tola was slowed.. Tola hastes himself which makes the fight sort of hard, I try to dispell him a bit but am hesitant to keep dispelling in case malo or turgurs is placed in an empty slot where his rune wore off or something
http://s18.postimage.org/etv25wgc9/EQ000127.png

2nd SS: BTW in both of these you can see my mana is super low.. that is because I had a lot of resists while slowing him. Here hes at 25ish.
http://s17.postimage.org/5rrmeuepb/EQ000128.png

3rd SS:Here Tola is at 9%. I built up some mana around this point but hasted instead of nuked.... I think this was my only mistake, and if I had nuked around now it would have offset his gate.
http://s9.postimage.org/xxhxwt3kf/EQ000131.png

4th SS: Tola at 1%. My pet must have got a bunch of misses because it doesnt even look like Tola is casting gate at this point... Was really bad luck I guess. You can see my hp is getting low and I dont have enough mana to heal, so I popped a DA thing instead of a CH. I really thought I had him at this point and probably should have just tried to JBB. oh well
http://s11.postimage.org/5xry2q9ib/EQ000133.png

To be continued... this guy will die I guarantee it. It may take a bit of luck as well as a perfect fight from me but it will happen. Bash and stun weapons dont work on Tola, but he can be raptured so it is very hard for a shaman to prevent him from gating.

I've been crazy busy and hadn't recharged my strings in a while, but that is fixed now. I'll be giving one or two mobs a shot in the coming days...

and to comment on some other stuff from page 11, oops, hadn't realized donals is only 20 sec. i can't say i've tried it, but i would think a cleric could stand far enough back to be out of the aoe range, though that would also be really stupid if thats how it was coded. regardless, grats shinko/anthrax! you just use manastone+cheal or did you have to use other heals? I have no clue how efficient the cleric HoT line spells are. Manastoning, HoTing yourself, and then casting Cheal might also work now that i think about it. but if you want to keep your secret, thats cool :P

i didn't mean to discourage anything, though i see how it sounded like that. i guess i like loraens idea of pointing out the first to solo/duo god mode stuff in cases like this. again, i'm still impressed by those donals duos, tho i bet it gets a bit boring :P

...wait, you can't slow ixiblat anymore?? there goes my crazy plan to trio then duo him if its tru :/

gating at 1%, thats the worst man. gl, you'll get him, clearly you have the ability to, just gotta stick it out!

wow, that was a crazy fight. just tried to solo a cliff golem. i got him to 7%, and two major things went wrong for me. first, i didn't anticipate that he would enrage. he enraged at about 8%, with my pet at 10-15%. if there was no enrage, it was going to be a close call, but an easy enough win for me. the second problem i ran into was the wtfihateyou snare whip that Save put on him. this caused me to nearly wipe in the first 20 seconds. it also blocked me from being able to pop tree form for the extra +hp and +mana regen. finally, being snared meant that when he did enrage, i couldn't get into melee range fast enough to turn him around so my pet would live. even if i had, i'm not so sure i could have tanked him long enough to finish the fight, as I was completely out of mana.

i went into the fight with max mana gear, 3016 mana i think. what i need to do next time is as the fight nears to an end, swap in as much hp and ac gear as i can so I can tank him just a bit longer. i tanked a bit randomly during the fight since i was sitting at full hp, but i can only take a few hits before i have to step out again.

i got lucky in that i didn't get a charm break. i wonder how much the golem duel wielding effects the fight, if at all. i spent 100% of my mana healing the pet, which i think is the most efficient thing to do. i also got lucky in that my pet proc'd tash fairly quickly and that slow landed ont he first click. later in the fight i slowed him again just to make sure it wouldn't wear off.

it was a tense fight though, both mobs were more or less neck and neck for % hp the whole time, as my heals kept the foreman alive. i saw enrage and my pet died just as i was getting to the other side of the golem. after that i had nothing to do but wait for him to kill him. it took him 10-15 seconds to finish me off, but with no mana and no high level mobs in sight to charm (and no way for them to regain agro anyway), i was done for.

i'm hearing that enrage always kicks in around 9-10% and lasts for a set duration. what might work is initially having my pet guard far from the fight. then when he rages, step in and tell the pet to back off. spam him to back off while i run from the golem. i'm not sure if he will choose to summon me or my pet though. if he summons the pet, then i have to stay in range to tank him. if he summons me i can just take the hits and run out of melee range over and over until enrage wears off, then send the pet back in. this might let me survive a bit longer. idk, i'm gunna have to play with it. hp/ac gear late in the fight + tree form will help a ton. i'm also not sure if its better to give my pet Natureskin (more hp, ac, regen), or give him Skin Like Nature (lets me robe heal him during the fight). i robed myself a few times after i tanked, and wouldn't have been able to robe my pet too much, so its hard to tell if the extra mitigation and hp+regen is better than a few free heals. i also can't med while robing, which sucks. i also need to play with trying to use ES vambs (i just didn't think to use them), and now that i mention that, i didn't have +mana gear in that slot or one of my fingers. the fight would have been crazy easy with either a reaper cheal click or spamming bladestopper, but i really think i can get it with just strings and a mallet. something about using all those clickies on something this "simple" sounds lame. hell, i could probably go back and solo drusella without a cheal stick now that i know i can haste my pets, but i don't care that much.

unfortunately i spent most of the fight far enough away that my logs didn't catch all of my pets dps. i did however manage to do 3840 dmg just from my DS on myself and my pet. at 32 a pop from my pet, and 38 a pop the few times he hit me, thats a lot of hits :P logs are putting it at a 4 minute long fight.

drusella was still probably my most nerveracking fight, because of all the prep work i had to put into it, and how annoying the cr's were. also it was the first seriously hard fight i did. this cliff golem fight might have been the most fun so far though. it was a long enough fight that i could relax a bit. i actually burned though all my mana by the end, and there were some crazy curveballs thrown at me. i'm sure this got really boring to read, but i just felt like rambling a bit and think about the fight before i pass out. gnight, and welcome droxx to the list! your tranix fight was fun to watch, and you seemed close to biting it at one point. his guards weren't up, but they are easy to single pull off with any class :P grats on the crown!

Splorf22 09-06-2012 10:28 AM

Dual wielding makes a huge difference obviously; its like +75% dps. I'd try and kill the one on the other entrance.

Triangle 09-07-2012 02:27 AM

Jumpalot Down Solo with strong clickies! Finally. Only used puppet strings, root nets, and potions I made (not sure if potions even count as strong clickies nor root nets.. but in any case no CH sticks nor any DA idols were used in this fight.

So the fight is basically like this: I bring two pets down. the first pet has a tash stick and I invis and pull... tola sees invis so if i run quick enough I can get away from him before he casts and then he comes single... Tola is hasted so his dps is incredible till slowed... So i let the first pet tank while i malo and attempt to slow.

The problem with letting my pet tank his tola will slow him, making his dps nearly 0... So I let tola kill the first pet and immediately charm the 2nd one... I didn't take any early SS's, so the first SS is after tola has been slowed and after my first pet has died and the second pet is charmed

SS1: Just started using the 2nd pet. You can see the 2 potions in my inventory. They are cancel magic and cancel poison. I click them whenever I get tash'd/asphixiated/slowed --> this keeps tola busy and keeps his dps down... he doesnt seem to nuke when doesn't have you both tashed and dotted which is immensely important.

http://s18.postimage.org/87u7x7j09/EQ000136.png

SS2: I have plenty of mana and tola is at 60%. I am doing well dispelling his stuff and keep tanking him to avoid having pet slowed.

http://s8.postimage.org/grh3dm0ed/EQ000137.png

SS3: Tola at 53%. I started to try to malosini him to make my nukes land easier when he got low, tried about 3 times but none stuck.

http://s7.postimage.org/8ey6zmxnf/EQ000138.png

SS4: Things got a bit intense I guess so I stopped taking SS's for awhile.. Here he is at 5%. You can see I am in the process of casting a nuke and hoping to god it lands. This is to kill him before he gates.

http://s15.postimage.org/aj8b7z8e3/EQ000139.png

Triangle 09-07-2012 02:33 AM

SS5: Tola down!! You can see he was casting gate by the bubbles but my nuke landed at around 2-3% and finished him off, was very close.. had the nuke not landed he wouldve gotten gate off.. what a pain in the ass this part is

http://s15.postimage.org/7iw256mgr/EQ000140.png

SS6: Tola's Corpse being looted

http://s17.postimage.org/q4rk852f3/EQ000141.png

SS6: loots + finishing off his stupid pet for good measure.. his pet does a ton of dps but i root it throughout the fight. unfortunately my pet pushed tola right into it at the end which i was worried about but luckily i channelled the nuke thru it.

http://s17.postimage.org/b19zhs5fj/EQ000142.png

to conclude, tola gave me tons of problems because of his gate... you can ask tmo about this, about 15 of them pulled him to poop rock and he gated and wiped their mini-raid right in front of me a couple days ago =P. However in the end a well timed nuke was all that was needed... and of course a bit of luck.
