Ugh.. Let's not start justifying this crap with the RP explanation. If you frequented this board a few months ago, you'd remember the griefing player who was a Halfling Rogue. He'd send tells to people inviting them into groups from across the world and after 20 minutes or so of running when they arrive, he'd play all ignorant pretending he never sent tells to the person for an invite. He would do the same when ordering armor from a player. The player would make the items and he'd say that he never asked for them or some such nonsense. He justified this all as being a Halfling Rogue who was Role Playing for his god Bristlebane etc. People were in an uproar over this and he wound up getting banned if I recall.
I don't agree that the person mentioned in this thread should be banned but he deserves prominence on the shit-lists of people and guilds. HE made his reputation, let him live with it. If he's in a guild, they should reconsider his membership as it gives them a bad name.

Here's the link to the former player, Triik who was also being an ass to other players..

Because that isn't a punishable offense, that is awesome. At least on a racewar server where you're supposed to be killing them, anyway.

A friend of mine had a dark elf enchanter and he'd take her to Freeport under a human illusion. Then he'd find a mark to kill and one to charm. He'd charm one guy, use him to kill the guy next to him at the bank, and loot the corpse and run.

That's how you do sneaky on a PvP server.

I think this is the general consensus.

And to all players out there. This is an old game with metric tons of info available. Do your research before buying anything. Google is your friend!

Maybe I'm missing something here. What's the scam?

So he lies to you about something he can do with the container, I got that part.
He links you some crafted jewelry, got that part too.

Then he wanted Djarn's Amethyst Ring in exchange for the Hollow Skull?
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=20583

That's it? I'm sorry but who would fall for this?

Dude this one time a guy told me a handmade backpack will make any weapon you store in it double the damage and half the delay. I traded my manastone for it ...

Turns out this wasn't the case and I am petitioning for him to be banned. Still no word.

I can understand both sides of this, but i would def say there should be something done about it but ONLY if he actually completed the scam. Then he would have been lieing and decieving another PC out of a highly valuable item by telling you a false fact about an ingame item. A slap on the wrist would do fine, maybe a 24 hour suspension? plus a flag and if the offense is repeated then smack a ban sticker on their forehead.

Now people say "well they shouldnt have been that gullible" but if someone scared you into giving them your wallet with their finger under there shirt pretending its a gun, then you find out and take your wallet back. Now dont you still want him to atleast get his shit kicked in for trying?

like a said 24 hour suspension = slap on wrist
repeated offense, BAN = Shit kicked in

Sincerely,
EQfiend
