Needs a bump.

Bump 2017.

a greedy beggar was there at least since Velious opened, because that's when I started playing on live, so if this server is open that far, then he should be there. He lies on his side near the entrance to the BBM docks until someone hails him then he follows them around like a puppy. He will take weapons and anything else that is offered to him and use it if he can. He assists in fights like a pet. Only one is ever up at a time, though, so if someone else has him then you have to wait for him to die and respawn before someone else can have him.

Magelo shows him as being present in Classic.

I seem to recall this guy being classic.

Guys I'm going to hazard a guess that the staff agrees with the classic evidence, but that this NPC has some very unique behavior (read: requires lots of special coding to get right), and they have much bigger fish they could use that same amount of time to fry.

I'm not saying not to bump (if they didn't want you to they'd say so themselves). I'm just saying that thinking like a dev, if it was me I would do this sort of bug in a "last round of fixes after all the 'real' work is done" patch ... and no amount of bumps would make me stop working on other bugs to sink a huge amount of time into this one NPC (and I say this to maybe save y'all the time and trouble of bumping).

I have put him in the next patch, but he needs a bit more development before his behavior is 100%

Apparently bumping does work! I've learned my lesson: I will no longer discourage bumpring of bug threads (in fact, it seems like I should encourage it).
