Lost 2 1/2 months of my SUMMER, years ago (junior high or highschool) because parts kept fucking breaking and alienware tech support kept having me send pieces in to determine if they were the cause, one by one, instead of sending the whole fucking machine.

Wish they would've just taken it for a month and fixed it instead of forcing me to go out into the dreaded sun, hssssss /covers face

Dunno what yer talking bout. Alienware has In-home service included in the price. They come promptly for free and access the problem, fix it with new parts, and ship the bad parts back :)

I suggested it to knuckle since hes a paraplegic

That looks to be a reasonable computer minus the GPU. You may want to look at a different solution if you are wanting to play many games, but it should run p1999 quite well.

Personally, I would probably only go with Asus, lenovo, or possibly Acer (I've heard they have really come around in recent years).

If you want something to play new games on decently, you are looking at spending around $1000. I spent about $1200 2-3 years ago to get my Asus Core 2 Duo laptop with an Nvidia 9650GT (?) with 1GB of dedicated memory. I can still load up any new game and play it with medium details. A purpose of this laptop was to play Oblivion and heavy photo editting. This laptop still gets used everyday and we've had minimal issues with it. Mainly just an occasional virus or bad driver (I have OCD when it comes to drivers and firmware).

This one isn't bad:

It would play EQ with no problem and many new games as long as you don't play them will full details.
