Hey all, found this thread useful. I'm thinking of rolling up on this server as well and read through this looking for advice.
I played EQ back in the day, starting before Kunark, taking a break until Velious and playing though until WoW stole my soul. I had a level 65? Paladin on Lanys T'Vyl which I enjoyed playing, as well as a 65 Wizard. I've played just about every class at the group and raid level, but only a few different classes in "Classic" EQ and only into the teens.
I don't know how long I intend on playing, or if I intend on ever making it to 50, seeing velious again, etc - but like many of you, I'm nostalgic of this whole period of the game and not much afterwards. Which is funny because I didn't join a top guild until much later, towards the end of PoP.
So, with all that said, I'm pretty sure I don't want to play a Paladin again much as I enjoyed it. I liked playing Bard (even if I was usually just one-hand boxing it during raids), and from reading this thread Bard seems like a good idea because it's needed and I remember it being a highly useful class when played well. My question, then, is: why aren't Bards being played? Difficulty or were they just not as useful in Classic EQ? Or are they just uninteresting to people?
I suppose Bard has always been one of those classes that fewer people played, I'm just curious if I'm missing something here. Thanks in advance.
