Is this going to be a.. buy new packs to get new cards thing? (microtransactioned)

Yes and sorta.

From what I remember watching during closed beta, you had to pay $1.50 to enter the ranked queue, and if you won you would get enough credits to keep playing in ranked queue a few times. Otherwise you had to keep forking over money to play ranked.

If you win a ranked queue (9 matches unless you lose 3 times), you get gold + cards depending on how many wins you got. So 9 wins would net you enough gold to pay back the $1.50 you spent + more, then you'd get some card packs, and some dust (used for creating single cards).

I think if you spent something like $250 was the average to get every card in the game, otherwise you'd have to play enough to get enough packs and fill up your book.

Topdecking is way too prevelant with the 30 card deck size, I don't think its THAT worth playing, especially competitively but its a nice relaxer or game to play while your medding like meh :P

that's just arena, aka a draft type format

you don't HAVE to pay real money for the arena

the game doesn't force you into microtransactions, but if you want to make a good constructed deck early on you'll pretty much have to buy packs

That is correct.

However there are daily quests for gold (what you can use to purchase packs of cards (u get 5 cards per 1 pack and guaranteed a rare) But if you want to get a decent deck going I spent 49.99 for 40 packs and earned the rest. ALL the cards you get in beta carry over to Live.

There are several people whom haven't spent a dollar on it and have most everything, but that in tails 12 hour a day grinds.

They recently changed to gold cap to slow that progress down. When you Win 3 matchs period u get 10 gold (this is now capped at 100 gold = which is the cost of 1 pack)

Game is pretty fun, It definitely doesn't have all the diversity that MTG has, IE there is no real counter/control (meaning if you play something on your turn its happening) However there are counter spell "secret" a mage ability that will counter your next spell.

Just a brief synopsis of the game. Overall I'd say try it if you enjoy the MTG style game.

I may start streaming publicly due to being top ranked but really just enjoy more so heads up gaming.

good job kringe, glad you are doing well! I definitely like the idea of this game, its always a plus when a game comes out the first couple months and beta play. Thats when the community is the strongest, and make games more enjoyable. How did you acquire a beta key? I have been trying the redit hand outs, and what not. I have been signed up for the beta on the blizzard account for sometime too.

I had fun the first week I played, got frustrated real quick playing as a hunter(ive never had release the hounds). Playing against other players feels a bit like a crapshoot as a hunter, and I've never beaten a good mage as a hunter, I might start maining a mage.
