Gore is bashing for 124 and 131 in your logs, with a 120 damage bonus that also looks in line.

I remember warrior taunt working (without clicky items) in Velious and 5 warriors in a row with precise taunt timing a few seconds before their defensive drops and a minimum of 8 non fail CH clerics on a chain with a few patching clerics/druids. The CH chain would move to the next tank before the current tank dies. I helped set it up for TMO on the live servers.

I just hope AoW on this server don't become a loot vending machine because it wasn't on live.

Threat wasn't the issue at all and I think I have enough noodles left from my drinking over the years that I still remember.

Your memory is wrong. Taunt cap in Velious was raised from 60 to 65 in a march 2001 patch. You could never taunt the AoW or most any raid mob (AoW was 70).

Not sure if this is how it was done but some posts suggest taunt+(or)proximity worked. Also on this post "AoW is pretty much 100% proximity agro, while idol is not." It looks like in 2003 it was possible to tank it with a single tank. This is 2003 so AE taunt was around I guess. Like I said, threat was not an issue even in the beginning.

I was playing a cleric so I didn't have the exact details on the warrior side but I don't remember anyone ever having to ask if the warrior clicky agro item was charged for any of the Velious encounters.

No one used clicky aggro in Velious, although it was possible. Aggro wasn't really an issue with SoDs/War epic and preaggroing while a WS ranger tanked.

Me feels like you'd drop aggro with a shield.

Again, didn't tank in Velious.

My point was you wouldn't want to fight with a shield for that whole fight because.. yeah great loss of threat.

Well, from the posts I found it looks like you would want to use a shield to maximize your defense and you would have less ripostes. Course these posts could be by people that don't know what they are talking about but there is multiple posts about it.

You could minimize ripostes more with a 2hander (hopefully with a proc for threat).

I'd rather have less ripostes than another 40 or so ac.

A riposte results in a spike.

A spike can result in a wipe real quick like.

When I was tanking it (being the MT on Rallos Zek for Ascending Dawn at the time) it was impossible to 1 man tank AoW. Even with end game Velious gear. We had a 3 tank rotation when AoW was first killed on Rallos Zek. Artaenc is correct when AoW is 100% proximity agro and Idol is not.

I remember now tanking him into a corner to guarantee current tank proximity threat, the next one would only enter that corner when the CH chain was half on the current tank and half on the new one.

The point of having more clerics in the CH chain that is needed for a 2 sec CH is to delay the manna consumption. The more clerics in the chain the smoother the healing would be and patches only happened during tank transitions. I think we had 1-2 clerics on the rampage tank and one time we had 10 clerics in a chain for the main tanks since 900K? hit points was a lot.
