I love the people I group with and have gotten to known, but tonight's event would have been better if it hadn't existed cause if it hadn't existed I'd have been in my groups, my guild would have gotten to do its raid, but instead we spent 5 hours doing nothing except reconnecting and wondering if we were stress testing Green. At the end of it we got a few illusion potions, and an EQ so late in the night we couldn't go after targets cause we're an Eastern Time zone guild, who had lost people to being disconnected several times. I'd love to redo the event next Saturday with 4 Griffins spawning at 8pm EST in NK, WC, IC, and DL and when they die an EQ happens and for people who attend the kills Guises and second tier items being handed out. But the way it happened tonight I was left hoping for more, but happily not hopping for more.

Let's just say it was a "very classic" event. And I think Rog did toss in an earthquake for any would-be raiders.

We joke about Classic and all, but my best Classic memory is the Plague of Karana event. The GM essentially challenged us all to roleplay, and we all roleplayed our damn hearts out and ran all over WK doing stuff for the unknown reward. It turned out the reward was an artifact BP with regen, and I won that motherfucker and it was an incredible moment. So I kinda take issue with that 'Classic' claim. Not that I think volunteer gms should be forced to run ultra elaborate stuff or anything, I understand where that is coming from and sympathize. But use that as the reason, not the classic meme.

For the complaints...

If you play EQ "strictly by the numbers" and your only in it for the potential rewards then maybe GM events are not for you. Because if you think staff is going to give out 900+ Guises (the number of people that attended across the 4 event zones). Then you are sorely mistaken and have not been paying attention to how staff works around here

As for the delay. Staff is all volunteers and have different schedules + there was a RL emergency. Aside from staff issues we also had to rethink the event a little bit when our original plan was clearly not going to work when WC crashed...twice. Which further delayed it and we decided to split the event across multiple zones so players partaking in the event could all you know... actually play the event and not just crash more zones. Attendance was high enough that we had to split it across 4 zones (WC, NK , DL, Iceclad) with 200+ people in each zone in order to have the event be playable

Complaints aside I hope people had fun

I think people need to stop bitching like entitled toddlers, sounds like a very classic event the likes that any GM/Guide team back on Live would be doing.

Very interesting that 200 were crashing zones though, yikes for Green launch day. But that's classic too! Sony had to give everyone in EQ a free two weeks after launch because the servers were barely up. :D

No 600+ was crashing zones. Ended up being 200 in each of 4 zones and no crash anymore.

I had a lot of fun, and Murof getting a guise was awesome. Dude was AFK when he became the newest dark elf ranger on the server and freaked out when he came back.

i had fun. :>

gm events are fun and exciting to participate in even when they don't go smoothly, so thank you and big ups for making the effort to celebrate the 10th year of p99. also i feel like people think running an event is mostly a question of 'planning things out well', and not the complete shitshow of manually spawning, configuring, moving and otherwise micromanaging NPCs using nothing but # commands it really is. it's awful. i could basically feel you guys typing out all the parameters for the awkward commands. thank you for doing it. :3

Highlight of the event was Galach's vorpal burritos.

There are plenty of classic events we could have had happen for the 10th anniversary.
The butcherblock hammer, end of the plague, mayong mistmoore, undead invasion, ect, ect.
I love what the staff does for us, but I have to say overall I was very disappointed.

I wish we had something that everyone could participate in, the raid mobs in the four zones were killing low levels left and right and dropped nothing.

It would have been nice to see a server wide trivial loot code with random rare drops.
That way we could enjoy our time with friends, groups, and the bonus exp (which was the real highlight of the weekend). While indulging in the true spirit of everquest which is adventure and exploration with our friends and guild mates.

The server puts entirely too much emphasis on go here kill big monster.
As well as in guises. The newbie player who won it, wanted to trade it for a fungi.
There are enough elitist asshats without adding more pointless stuff like guises and it would be nice to see everyone who has been around making this server what it is get a guise so that the market could relax. Over 1 million characters have been made and there was ~900 characters in the events last night. I don't get it.

Anyways, thanks for what you do do Devs and Guides and I'm sorry if I come off as a dick. I just hope to raise a little awareness that there is a bad form of tunnel vision on the server and it could be addressed in times like these with just a bit more thought while putting little to no pressure or reliance on the staff.
