Specialization

See This thread.

But the crux of the issue is this:

Specialization should preform mana preservation EVERY cast. It should not be a % chance.

EQClerics 2000

Quote:

The effect of specialization on mana cost is a constant, and is applied to every spell casting.
Quote:

For Alteration (specialization 200), each casting saved close to 10% (9.9%) on the cost of the spells.

For Abjuration (specialization 50), the mana cost on each spell was reduced roughly 1.4%.

Acording to ShowEQ it works every time...

As for the AA skill, it doesn't increase yor 'chance' of saving mana.

What it actually does is adds to your effective spec skills and therefore increases your mana savings. The increase in mana savings is aproximately half of the number shown in the AA descriptions.

Also test on EQLive, it will function every time.

I do agree though, the AA is quite possibly the worst worded AA ever. And I had the same thought as you when I was buying AAs on Mac server cause when I bought them on Live that AA had the new description that I linked in the other thread.

But even back then, during Luclin, people knew that the AA infact just was extra fixed mana pres and not a "chance"

This is a great classic fix though. One that people will not be annoyed with me over!

I know on my cleric it was every cast. It wasnt a random chance. Let me guess. Its coded wrong? Shocker.

I know on my Druid I randomly save mana and randomly spend full cost for a spell. But once you have specialization skill you should never spend full cost again.

The specialization was huge. Getting a wrong one to go above 50 first sucked. Made a healer useless.

Wow this is great

So the server has been online for how many years and this was never fixed or noticed by the devs?

Or the player base!? :p

Yea I should've looked for evidence on this earlier. I knew it should always fire, but it's tough to make out whether it fired or if you cast right before or after the phantom tick of mana.
