Couple of questions

I've dabbled shortly on the server a long time ago but never made it past level 10. I am back now and probably going to wait to play seriously until green comes out. Though I am just spending time familiarizing myself with Neriak and where everything is in the mean time. Anyways I am having problems with the UI and resolution. Still playable but I think it could be improved.

First the resolution options aren't very extensive in the options. I'd like to just use my monitors native resolution of 1080p. This is probably a quick fix or even an edit in a file but I don't know where to look for that.

Second which I would assume would conflict with the first question; is it possible to use the very old ui where the game world is in a smaller window? If not do you guys recommend any alternatives to the default ui?

Before opening the game go to eqclient.ini and find the resolutions there. There are a few different ones (windowedz fullscreen, etc)

For UI, green will be limited to 1 option possibly, and they are still working on it. We don't know exactly what they have in store. It probably won't be just like the original stone ui, but it does seem like they are trying to get some of that flavor with stone buttons, etc. Functionally if you change to "velious UI" in game (alt+o and find the option to change it) that will be similar but who knows. A few known/suspected/possible changes:

6 hotbar buttons
No pet window
Third person/mousewheel working differently, 1st person may be best
Must have spell book open to meditate
1 chat window only??

Also one final point. Horizontal viewport is locked. Having a wide screen means you actually see less of the world(top/bottom cut off). Play around with /viewport and see if you can tell a difference.

/Viewport 0 0 1420 1080
/Viewport 250 0 1920 1080

Okay and thanks for the thoughtful response. Going to play around with it now!
