Ranger DW
 

When is the best time to start DW on ranger? I’m currently 22 and have been using 2h the whole time. My original plan was to stick with 2h until into my 30s when I can get a short sword of Morin + orc impaler/ebony bladed sword.

Is it worth switching to DW before this?

Probably not, 2H will out damage dual wield until damage bonus really kicks in in the 40s. Although Ranger 2H options aren't great in Classic.

I'd switch as soon as you get both Sword of Morin and Impaler.

It depends on the 2H. A gigantic Zweihander will out damage (or be comparable) to Orc Impaler/Short Sword of Morin until ~40. A Bone Bladed Claymore on the other hand will fall behind by the mid 20's.

This presumes the same damage bonus calculation for 2H as 1H regardless of delay.

My current plan is GZ to 37 then go for EBW's

I'm currently 26. Bone bladed claymore still far outdamages my sword of morin/dragoon dirk combo.
