Necro Research

Sorry for the noob question, but I have never ever played an INT caster before, and I plan on doing so with Green's launch.

That being said, I want to make sure I have an understanding of research.

For example: If I am understanding the wiki correctly, to obtain the level 16 pet spell, I have to:

1. Purchase a Book of Dark Bindings from a vendor
2. Find Words of Reviviscence off a drop off of any random MOB level 16+
3. Find Words of the Sentient (Azia) off a drop off of any random MOB level 16+
4. Combine the two words in the Book of Dark Bindings

Is that correct? Thank you!

Yes. Though I'm unsure how random the drops are for words/reagents - my experience is that some mobs drop them more often than others.

You also need to be mindful of your Research skill level. If your skill level is below trivial you'll potentially fail the combine, like tradeskilling.

So please break down the best scenario at level 16 for my first combine for the pest spell to work. What would my research skill have to be? Is putting training points into Research the only real way to level it up?

Thanks!

Yep, there were practice runes implemented to aid with skill ups, but it's cheaper at lower skills levels to just pay for them via your class trainer.

What should I aim to get my research skill to before attempting to create a level 16 research spell?

There's a list here with trivial points:

Not sure how to read this. So is the level where it is trivial the point at which I will not fail?

Quinas 10-14-2019 10:06 AM

Correct, though there is always a small (5%) chance of failure I believe.

Thank you very much for your time!

IIRC it costs about 2k plat total to skill up Research to 185 at the trainer.
