Ranger Spells 52+

This was originally posted by Mecoes but in the wrong bug forum, so I wanted to make sure it got looked at in the right place:

Firestrike (52)
Storm strength (53)
Chloroplast (55)

Here is a screen capture of the ROK Prima Strategy Guide showing the spell levels.

The only exception is Jolt ... that was not in on Kunark Release. There was a period of time where rangers were getting chewed up due to a combination of using low delay weapons, having chain-class mitigation, Kunark mobs hitting harder than Classic mobs, and warriors not being able to taunt higher level mobs. This is when rangers became "the laughing stock of EQ" due to lack of survivability and eventually the Jolt spell was the bone that the developers threw us in a later patch.

We need Jolt

Quote:

"Jolt was not added until several months into Kunark, and was a level 55 spell. It had absolutely nothing to do with Ranger aggro in classic. As has been already pointed out, Ranger's were perfectly valid tanks in classic to the point that warriors (Furor of FoH) in particular screamed to have them nerfed since Ranger's tanked as well as warriors, plus has utility."
I believe Jolt was added with this patch:

http://web.archive.org/web/200205251...oroplast&type=

Archived posts from Everlore showing discussions about rangers getting Chloroplast and never getting Regeneration to preceed it (dated as early as May 2000, I can't seem to get to page 2 of this forum discussion to see earlier entries, maybe someone else can). This at least proves that the spell Chloroplast came before the June 6th patch

Also entries for Firestrike as early as 6/28/2020.

It was all in at release except for Jolt... I already proved that above.

Just supporting it with additional information in hopes of it being instituted asap

I did a comparison of SPDATs from my archive, from March 2000 (Kunark beta), April 2000 (Kunark release), and late June 2000 (after the Jolt patch).

The timeline above for Jolt looks right.

Oh sorry I got cut off -- it looks like many of the Kunark spell era rules are taken from that March 2000 era Kunark CD spdat.eff (which represents spells as they were in Kunark beta).

Rangers definitely had Firestrike / Storm Strength / Chloroplast at Kunark release.

I'm sure there are other exceptions floating around that people haven't flagged. If I find time I will do a class-by-class diff of March 14 2000 spdat against kunark release spdat (April 18 2000). That should highlight all the errors.

Or someone else could do it for me? :D

It turns out EQCaster can do a csv export of the entire spdat, so I did exports of all of them and put them in a spreadsheet. Sent it to devs, this should help a lot going forward I bet.

Server reset today had me so hopeful for this being fixed. Rangers continue to get the shaft

Is there any more information devs need to help adjust the spell levels to what they should be?
