Green Vs Blue

Just coming back after about a year hiatus. Looks like there's a green server and the population is split between Blue/Green almost down the middle 700 online green, 600 blue online.

So are people still starting new characters on blue, or mainly just green now? Would someone kind of give me a rundown of the current p99 dynamic?

Thanks guys!

still plenty of new characters being made on blue, green started from scratch and they're about to get kunark soon

If you are wondering the difference between the server is green was a fresh launch and is following the progression timeline until who knows what happens.

Blue is running 10+ years and for players that are looking for that.

Green is still pre-kunark but post most legacy item nerfs now. Blue is classic-velious at what I believe is a static state, no new timeline updates. Chardok 2.0 and all iirc was the last update?

Green is a TLP style server that will merge to blue and be reset at the vanilla era after Velious is over. Its full of WoW/TLP style gimmicks like achievement announcements and old nerfed/removed loot still dropping for a period of time. Its population has a lot of no-chill edgelord gamer tryhards and about 75% of green players overalll are brand new to P99 or even EQ itself with green's launch.

Blue is what you probably remember, top heavy and full of items and plat. A bit overwhelming to get started from nothing, but with tons of high quality gear for relatively little plat once you get going. There's far more raid targets and an overall better variety of raid guild options. The chances of getting even the hardest epics are MUCH MUCH higher on blue than on green where they will be contested far more viciously.

The biggest issue with blue is that there is virtually no pick up group XP/leveling going on prior to around level 40, comparatively to green, and less overall prior to 50, and 50+ everyone just goes to the Hole now so you can't even find fun KC groups very easily and Seb is now a ghost town for an LFG experience. If you just like popping into the hot leveling zone, saying /ooc LFG and joining up with randoms, green is the place and you'll find far fewer asshats now that the edge cases are focused more on end game and PL'ing alts. However Kunark green will be a shitshow and getting groups and camps might be annoying for a few months. If you like soloing then blue will give you many more options to find a camp both now and after Kunark and the pick up group scene is of less concern.

Blue is Alpha, green is Beta, Red is dead, Green 2.0(coming 2030?) Is the servers.
Blue since it was 10 year alpha(kind of like Pantheon and other useless kickstarter MMOs) is your tried and true server, that nothing is new and your there for the grind to 60, twink alts with gear that makes most content boring. Community is solid pre raiding. Castle peeps much <3

Green creeping on a year old already(holy crap) and is creeping on Kunark probably 3 months out. On this server there is twinking but twinking is generally not a huge edge. Its fun to start a toon and yeah someone might give you a decent item, but your still going to level through the adventure slow and steady, either solo or with people(hopefully people its an community game after all) bright side TONS AND TONS of people 1-45 to group with, in all zones from WC/EC/Fay/Crusbone/Gorge/Befallen/Qhills/Karanas/ etc.
Green does have progression, so you can experience the server as it originally came out. Ie Paineel next month, Kunark, Hole, Vel, Warrens releases

Now raiding for both servers are garbage community just forewarning you. But some guilds hoping to fix that:)

If you have the plat to twink a blue character, the time to get it into the 50s, and the desire to always have something you and your guild could be doing, then blue.

If you have the time to level a green character, the patience to hold out until late Kunark / early Velious, there will be plenty of opportunities for more casual players and guilds.

We still don't know if Green will ultimately merge with blue, it will be a nightmare for people that don't have matching char races / classes but the same name, not to mention the established economy being upset on blue or the potential differences like pet UI being around. Green server might be the first of the Green rollover servers with a very different economy and cycles of new loot and players recycling over.

"Green is a TLP style server that will merge to blue and be reset at the vanilla era after Velious is over. " That is pure speculation at this time, and is not confirmed by staff.

I think calling it "pure speculation" is not quite right. The original announcement still says Green will merge into Blue. They haven't mentioned it since then, but they did declare it in the announcement.

Green Lifetime
The green server will, at a time yet to be decided, eventually merge into blue and start over again. This merge will not happen until at least 6 months after the last patch in velious (No earlier than January 2023).

Sure! So Blue has been active forever and everyone there is totally jacked with extreme loot and extreme drama. Everyone has everything while plat and reputations are worth nothing. Everyone has stabbed everyone in the back; it's all been kill-stolen and ninja-looted. You can read it in the book, if it's up, but it's twisted history is better left untold.

Then Green opened and all those extremely jacked guys said let's go start some guilds there and dominate because why not and also boredom. At the same time all these people who haven't played classic EQ for like decades said oh man this is my chance to get some nice nostalgia going and re-live the best years of our lives.

At the top Green is run by a bunch of harsh taskmasters who have everything figured out to the millisecond and the exact pixel. They fear nothing and respect nothing and their currency is fear and lies and forlorn hope.

At the bottom are the innocent poopsockers, exploited relentlessly for their labor to bring glory to the few. Caught up in the nostalgia trap, they labor for others thinking that is the normal thing to be; subservient, obedient, quiet and grateful.

In the middle are people like me; the real heroes.

So that's the dynamic. Top is run by super-experienced raiders with no room for you fucking around or being not 100% committed. A large portion of the population doesn't know what the fuck they're doing and causing tons of drama by trying to play the game they think they remember playing instead of what's on the ground. Between that are old cynics who know everything but refuse to get caught up.

Sounds like someone is salty that more people ply on Green. OP, the “finding a camp” problem is only an issue on Green if you’re trying to do the top most valuable camps from a loot or money perspective. If you don’t care about min maxing your loot and plat per hour each play session, you will have no issue finding camps on Green (and even sometimes you’ll be surprised out how often very valuable camps are just sitting open)
