Walk the Great, Forgotten Road in <Auld Lang Syne>

In days gone by, the ways of old
The dungeon dark made blood run cold.
In days of old, where arrows fly
For gold, for glory! we all shall die.

We walk the long forgotten roads.
In cool, starlit plains a fastened cloak
A blade, a shield, strong arm to wield!
The muttered magic of a Master Seer.

From the dust, from the bones
We Quest our weapons to best our foes,
And when the dark becomes to great
A shared song is all it takes…

In days gone by, the ways of old
The dungeon dark made blood run cold.
In days of old, our arrows fly
For gold, for glory! We all shall die!

Who We Are:

<Auld Lang Syne> is a hardcore levelling/progression guild seeking to recapture the experience of classic. Project1999 offers a great base for a player to experience all the content they knew from childhood, or fell in love with here. However, as the server has been up for seven years, there is a gulf between what the average p99 player expects to have for equipment and what they would have available to them at that level. Through mutual observance of a restrictive guild charter, the adventurers of <Auld Lang Syne> experience great content, quests, and gear that has long been thought to be obsolete!

What We Believe In:

We of <Auld Lang Syne> believe that the levelling experience of Everquest is one of the best parts of the game. We are interested in the journey, not the destination. As such, we allow ourselves to be challenged by working within the confines of what our characters, guild groups, and miniature raids are capable of achieving and acquiring. Some of us are veteran players and some are new, but we are all alike in our dream of enjoying the best content that Norrath has to offer. We believe in the spirit of adventure, challenge, and comradery.

What It Means:

Members of <Auld Lang Syne> do not participate in the mudflation economy of project 1999. Platinum is earned from mobs and used only within guild* and vendor trading. This restricts us from easy access to overpowered items (a Green Jade Broadsword, for instance, can be acquired after an hour or two of wisp hunting!) While there is nothing wrong with purchasing weapons and armor from higher level players, twinking, or paying for PL services (this is what Classic is all about for many), the members of <Auld Lang Syne> are not interested in the expressway to level 60.

For many Auldtimers, our first step towards glory and fortune is purchasing a Combine Weapon to kill willowisps. Our main warrior fought with Langseax, and now proudly wields Obsidian Shards.

*Some allowances for services such as teleportation are made.

Our Goals:
*Supporting our guild members (hunting together, helping with quests, emotional support when you lose a level of exp)
*Being a positive influence to p99 Community
*Gearing ourselves by completing quests, killing monsters, and advancing trade skills
*Having a good time with cool and normal friends

How does this guild deal with Iksars? Kunark items are more powerful than oldworld. Is the guild restricted to velious?

If I understand our guild chatter correctly, we will be opening Kunark for our guild later this month (October). No guarantees, though. :)

Loving this experience so far! 27 Erudite Paladin.

If you are thinking about it but not sure I recommend making a new character to try it out!

From the guild charter: "Crafted trade skill items are not subject to a level restriction."

Please read the Guild Charter to see if you might be interested.

A few tips from me.

1. Accept the struggle, relish in the difficulty, JOIN! It's super fun, we need more members and it brings the challenges and accomplishments of the low level adventure. You can actually seek out low level quests that will benefit you with rewards, and guild members will be willing to help you. That EverQuest 1999 feeling is arriving at a dock near you.

2. Since crafted trade skill items are not subject to a level restriction, you can have a Tailor or Blacksmith get you suited up in some silk, cured silk, or banded armor once you have the plat to purchase or items to trade.

3. You can also purchase a Forged Weapon from a Blacksmith before you can afford a combine weapon, highly suggested! You don't want to be swinging that rusty/tarnished weapon for 15 levels do you?

Definitely farm those bone chips, spider silks, spiderling silks, and High Quality Bear Pelts! You can sell or trade those to guild members for items of like value.

Due to my work schedule, I am typically on after work in the mornings (so, around 6:30 a.m., EST), and late at night/overnight on weekends (Friday and Saturday). What sort of numbers do you typically have on at that time?
