Went back to the gym for the first time in like 3 years. Between moving, covid, and breaking my foot, i've been a lazy fat fuck. Depressing how weak I am compared to the good old days, but feeling fuckin good on the couch drinking wine after a good lift, stretch, and sauna.

Hell yea get at it

I love the sauna, hit it 3x a week. Our gym sauna is so fucking hot too

I like to piss everyone off by commenting “it’s like a sauna in here…”

We have our battle of the branches work annual 5k coming up Oct 2

My division is age 18-39 which sucks being that I am 39, but it doesn’t matter because I am trying to come in top 5 overall anyway, ideally rank 1. While we have more than 1000 employees not nearly that many sign up. I know my only real competition is Amanda, that chick is dangerously fast

But I can’t train that well because for some reason I have this brutal shin splint on right shin, which is weird because I’ve been running for years. I still run on it but even with 4 Advil and a weed gummy the pain is nearly blinding. I tell myself Navy seal David Goggins ran on literal shin bone fractures so stop being a fucking pussy

But a co-worker gave me some free “KT Tape” to try. And holy shit it feels better even just walking, even with my shitty tape job (I looked up how to tape). Now to take it out for a run and see if the profuse amount I sweat won’t make it fall off….

But so far this tape seems legit. I just hate relying on braces of any kind, I don’t use belts or straps when lifting, etc. But this pain was getting pretty ridic

…Nope, fuck KT Tape

Came off almost immediately. Had to slow down to tear it the rest of the way off. I sweat way too much for that shit

With the shin splint, I have to do this shuffle stride to try to minimize impact, which is making my lower back tired

Time is probably still enough to place first, although ideally I’ll be safest if I can get it below 7:40ish

I dunno much about biking or swimming but that’s a sick pace esp budgeting for that total energy expenditure

As much as I love cardio, I’ve never been drawn to triathalons because was never able to get into biking (mountain or street) despite friends trying. I looked up and biathalons are a thing, but barely. And not all that into swimming either tbh, even though I do it 3x/week (when legs are sore)

Asmongold caring about and commenting on a Zyzz vid is not something I ever expected to see…

Swimming is an upper body exercise. Biking is probably my favorite of the three but honestly swimming has really grown on me. It might be the single best workout I've done. I've swam 2+ miles in open water, I've never come out of the water and felt sore or tired. It's zero impact and I plan to mix it in until I kick the bucket.
