Enchanter - Chaotic Feedback spell

Hello, I was wondering if I need to pick up this spell. Mana wise it seems really inefficient currently. Additionally, it overall deals less damage than Choke while having very small mana difference. Of course, you can spam it, which will add up to more damage, but again, the mana cost just seems too high for it to be effective and you will inevitably pull aggro if you go that route. Does it become more useful later on?

The short answer is yes you will need it. As you said not super efficient, but sometimes you need the burst damage and enchanter dots are slooow. Also fun fact it’s long casting compared to other nukes and gets resisted a lot due to the stun aspect. Speaking of the stun portion it’s also a great way to get a ton of aggro so be ready to root after you cast it. But yeah it’s worth a spot in your book and probably your bar.

no, you're NOT a wizard, Harry

When you tash and slow a raid mob and don’t die follow up with this spell.

It has a stun? I saw it mentioned in the wiki, but it stated that the stun was 0 sec, so I assumed someone added that by mistake. Thank you for the information!

Chaotic Feedback, like almost all enchanter nukes, does indeed have a 0-second stun component, also called an interrupt. It will interrupt spellcasting, but the mob will keep attacking and so on.

Unfortunately, the fact that the spell has a damage component and a stun component means the target gets two chances to resist the spell. If it resists either the stun or the damage component, then the entire spell is resisted. Therefore, this spell will be resisted twice as often as normal nukes.

Also, bear in mind some mobs are immune to stun and mez (giants, dragonkin, Phinny’s upper seahorse guards, spite golems). None of the chaotic feedback line will land on them.

I think enchanters get a nuke without stun at...54?

Also note that a resisted spell actually creates more aggro than a successful spell. So as you can guess, this doubly-resistable spell will rip aggro a lot. Hence the mischievous troll post about casting this if you don’t die after tashing and slowing a big meanie. This will probably seal the deal if you need a break from spamming clarity and haste.

the stun component is used for interrupting casting mobs, so the 0 second duration isnt relevant. otherwise, yes its mana inefficient if you want to deal damage with it

Also, if you do want to interrupt a spell, enchanters use level 4 Mesmerize for that. Cheap, quick, good chance to land. It’s high-aggro, but I don’t know how its aggro compares to Chaotic Feedback. Plus, mez even has a chance to memblur.

unleashedd 10-03-2020 11:20 AM

+ on using lvl4 mez to interrupt. its cheap, has a higher chance to land, and a chance to blur (this could make tank lose agro, so beware). really, if you cant afford all your spells, skip the nukes. if you can afford them, but are trying to figure out when to use them - nuke yourself to practice evocation and bind wound :)

You want to buy it if for no other reason to improve your evocation skill.

You will also eventually want t to finish off mobs with very low amounts of health and sometimes CF is just the right amount of damage for the iight maount of mana. You don't want to dump 200+ mana to nuke something with 0.5% health.

Post choke, the dots are trash and they all have front loaded damage that can break root.
