Nerdiest shit you've read lately

rough gem from before we mooted the issue by allowing exports

*mutters* fuck you Jimmy Carter

magnetaress 04-03-2024 09:23 PM

still bent on oil when we should be 100% nuclear and geothermal and other renewables for giggles (renewables being like 10-15% of the total tops, and for more private enterprises)

butttt hey we can't even run a healthcare system "privately" :p

so i skimmed the PDF and gave the thread 1 star, butt not cuz u hate jimmy carter.... the list of citations is great tho )

there are true and valid concerns and reasons which to address means political suicide

if you ever wonder why anything bad is the way that it is in the world, first look for who will lose money if it stops, and then look for who will lose votes if they stop it.

The root of the plight we endure is the large section of the population that demands they be led by the nose to the trough.

no it's not

humans have desired to be led since the beginning of the species. that's why religion exists. the vast majority of people cannot comprehend the nature of reality thus, sky wizards. this is nothing new.

a very small number of us have figured out how to make shitloads of money off of the rest of everyone, who are all collectively just cattle with credit cards. poor people are always gonna be poor. "wealthy" is a result of an educated worldview, not a work ethic or circumstance.

the plight we endure is that we don't have any major plights. human beings have an innate need to feel like they are fighting for a brighter future, whether that is more foods to gather, animals to hunt or an oppresive force.

the human in 2024 isn't threatened by any of these things, at all. so they decide on their own what their personal plight is, and project that on the rest of society.

we have never had it better, and that's gonna lead to our downfall.

Is it right to assume your interpretation of reality is laid out in your message? That most people are dumb and the wealthy ones are the ones who have figured out that none of this matters so get what you can get and fuck the poors?

Snippy snippy!

Chattel works better in this instance for a similar but meaner meaning.

But it is slightly archaic. :o

I learnt it from a vampire book.

yeah that's a portion of my understanding, in crude and amusing terms

it's simply the reality on the ground. The world looks different when you have money. We all like to think that if we were the CEO of Amazon that we would create much better working conditions for Amazonians.

But if you were to sit behind Jeff Bezo's desk, and were dealing with the things he deals with, you would 99% of the time make very similar decisions.

Greed is only a small factor there.

So your claim hinges on a theory that there are many out there in their daily life who make the same types of decisions that Bezos makes. The only difference being the impact he has is much greater.
