If you have the Rod, you don't need the Gob Earring to reset your Global Cooldown. You can even use the Rod from your inventory, which is nice once you get your epic :)

the annoying part about using rod for cooldown reset is it requires a target, and it has a big bright graphic that goes everywhere. it's really distracting. with gobby ear you just click it. Also you get a dummy buff out if it :B

I dunno I always take a gobby ear on a caster over scope or rod or whatever. Maybe that's just me :B

Plenty of HP for early levels. If you can't survive with the Rune line after that I don't know what to do for you.
