copying one character's UI file to another

I'm looking for information on copying one character's ui file settings to another.

I thought it would be as simple as creating a copy of the desired UI, but switching over to the new name in the filename. That did not work.

Are there elements inside the character UI file, or in the character's ini file that I might need to change to accomplish the transition?

You did half of the work you need to also change the desiredcharacter_project1999 file along with the ui_charactername_project1999

That is disappointing, I was hoping to keep my hotbutton set ups.

you can keep the hotbutton set ups,

example my hot button set is file, Bbeta_project1999 (.ini).

i make a baby monk and want exactly the same hot buttons as bbeta. his name is Bananasmasher.

i copy Bbeta_project1999 and rename it Bananasmasher_project1999

Oh I meant the otherway around for the hotkeys;

I want character 1 to use character 2's ui, but I want character 1 to keep character 1's hotkeys and socials... I guess I gotta do some digging around and hope I can find which bits to pick and choose without making the game nor ui crash out.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i think u just need to change ui_charactername_project1999 and leave the charactername_project1999 file alone

ah man that doesn't work out for me :(

I tried copying just the UI file for one character to another... both were shadowknights - this time it worked!

My guess, is last time I was trying copy a SK to a monk, certain UI elements upset EQ and caused the uifile to be reset to a default setting.

I'll try deleting all references to spell bars, books and so on, then redo the copy for the monk.
