Ancient Cyclops Death Message / Hasten text
 

So, I was digging through some of my old files recently and I came across this screenshot:

As luck would have it, I even have the logfile from this event:

Yes, it's out of era - but it got me wondering... I have in-era logs for other NPCs commenting on their death:

[Mon Nov 12 18:42:30 2001] You have slain a stone skeleton!
[Mon Nov 12 18:42:31 2001] a stone skelet's corpse says 'My comrades will avenge my death.'

I noticed the names become truncated once the mob is dead as well, but that's beside the point. Should the AC have a death message lamenting the loss of his ring? I don't see one from when I last killed him anyway:

Yeah, it's from 8/2002 but I figured it was worth bringing up. The devs already have these logs from a couple years ago, I just came across supporting screenshots.

I thought I saw the AC say that about his "precious ring" here on P99. Is it possible you were too far away to hear him?

Hrm - I've killed him with a cleric, a mage, and a monk. I checked the cleric's first and then thought about the distance so then I checked the monk - that's the log I posted. Still possible I have them turned off or something and I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Hasten's text is still different though - granted it's a 2002 log so it may have been changed after "classic".

Well, I have corpses speaking both before and after that time so /shrug. I guess it's possible I turned it off for almost two years:

The SRo AC has the death message, the OOT one does not. Not sure why this is.

Ah! There we go. I've never killed the SRo one on P99.
