On the wiki it says a max level pet hits for 26 dmg

But after 40+ casts the best I could do was 23dmg max hit

Mage pets were nerfed last patch. Wiki just isn't showing current info.

Magican Pets were Fixed to be more classic-velious era accurate.

The p99 wiki is a community effort, it's not a reflection of 100% accurate information, excluding the patch notes section.

I curated the Patch Notes section personally, so if you find anything inaccurate let me know. :)

Try playing a necro if you want a pet with better dps.

What exactly did they change with mage pets? My 49 mage pets can still solo IG.

Not 100% sure. The wiki info for the level 4-20 pets was accurate and this was the only differential I ran into

Not much changed for pets under level 51 with a few exceptions. The major change was for pets 51+. The damage tables were found to be out of era (Luclin, I think), which means they were hitting harder than they should have been.

Level 51-55 pets hit slightly less hard now, but the real kick in the pants is the 57+ pets that are hitting for 10 less than they were which amounts to a bit over a 14% decrease in DPS from the pet.

Just got 24 today, and the best pet conned yellow to a lvl 22 and hit for a max of 23 over a long period of time.
