Is there a way to standardize resolution?

I'm looking for a way to standardize (or perhaps customize?) the resolution of the game throughout all the screens. For example, login, character select, and gameplay. The way it works now technically works, but I have to fiddle with it each time I log in and I'm hoping there is a fix for it.

I'm using 1920x1080 resolution. I've already set my settings in the eqclient.ini file to this resolution.

I fire up EQ and everything looks good. Full screen and all that. The login screen isn't 1920x1080 resolution, but that isn't an issue. Not sure exactly what resolution it is, but it is bigger, but looks fine. Then I get to the character select screen. That one is 1920x1080 resolution in VIEW ONLY. Somewhere, it still thinks the resolution is smaller because once I select my character and click on enter world, it takes me to my desktop. That click is outside what the game thinks the resolution is, even though visually it is still nice and full screen. Now when I click on the program on my taskbar, it comes back up but in windowed mode. I alt-enter to go back to full screen and all is well. Everything works fine. What I'm hoping to do is be able to make it to where I don't have to deal with this every time I start the game. The good news is that once I do this, I am fine for the duration of my session. If I log out to the character select screen, the "fix/workaround" I did before is still in effect. It is only if I exit the game completely that I have to go through all of that again.

So what I'm hoping for is a way to adjust the settings, or perhaps tweak a file manually so I don't have to mess with this anymore.

Any ideas?

PS: I've tried searching the forums to no avail. I haven't found anything specific to this issue.

eqclient.ini (in your main EQ folder) holds all of the resolution settings, or at least all that I know of. Open it up and you'll see several different types of resolution being set: I imagine if you play around with them you should be able to make make your setup work how you want.

I did that (per my original post). But it still doesn't affect all screens.

If changing eqclient.ini doesn't work I don't know of any other place that controls that stuff. Hopefully someone else here does ...

Some relevant stuff I've posted which may be of use:

TLDR: don't play in fullscreen, it's bad. Also maybe try WinEQ2.

The point (for me, anyway) of playing in full screen is to play the game as I did back in the day. That said, I did find your links helpful and have adjusted my eqclient.ini file to a pixel-perfect resolution and position for when I do ALT+ENTER into windowed mode :).

I've tried WinEQ, and it turned out to be more of a headache than my actual issues.

This was my experience too, but then again I wound up being fine with (and actually preferring) "full-screen windowed mode" over actual full-screen mode.

I use a program called Borderless Gaming. It works how Win EQ should work. And it’s super easy to use.

Will look into it :)
