Project 1999

Project 1999 (/forums/index.php)
-   Blue Server Chat (/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17)
-   -   Staff should open back up Account Trading (/forums/showthread.php?t=389926)

Going to vote 'nah' on this one. It wouldn't bring anything of value to the project as a whole. Make friends to help you PL new toons if you don't want to level the old fashion way. Allowing account trading just to be able to move around legacy item accounts seems like a terrible RMT idea. Don't legacy items cause enough problems for the staff already?

"account sharing" can be considered legal as players are not given permission to sell their accounts for "in game currency" which immediately becomes real world currency.

its got nothing to do with who plays/shares whatever account, If people are generating real world income from this project, then P99 gets the ban-hammer from Daybreak.

Donations given for operating the server are not likely considered to be income.

this is really all quite first year law boilerplate stuff.

Huh? I didn't say it was illegal.

I was commenting on the fact that Nirgon criticized it as not classic yet his own guild took advantage of it regularly.

account sharing is totally classic. we did it on live all the time.

maybe thats why he got banned, its misinformation!

and pretty sure people do it secretly anyways but GMs banned them for RMT

What?

You do know that account trading was open, and common on P99 for 2-3 years right?

As in, you could PL a monk to 45 in 2 days, and sell it for 150k on the forums.

It was normal, common practice here, on P99, to just WTS a character of yours, and sell it for plat, or items, or another toon. You could change EMU email address and that was it.

Search through the forums, there's literally hundreds of account trades and sales.

What part of RMT invitation, and, Nobody wants to spend their lives investigating each account transfer is confusing?

Please let us know, We're all here to help!

The part where every transaction in the game is an RMT opportunity and we just have to live with it. Account trading was great fun, because you could get your time back and trade it for plat or an item when you were done with a character. Or you could get a high level character pretty cheap because some people are good at grinding and their grind time is worth less to them than your grind time is worth to you. Miss it.

Yeah that's not the topic at discussion. If RMT was a huge concern for you You would be against all items being tradable, and epic MQ, and loot rights.

All are pretty huge RMT sinks.

all of those things you mentioned are very easy to track. They have software that does look for various red flags, highly irregular trading patterns, etc.

was it RMT or was it one player moving a lot of plat/gear to another account that they own?

was it RMT or did one player pay another player for goods/services rendered at another time?

was it RMT or are you just pissed off that you can't RMT?

I feel like this thread has drawn out the ire of those who can't easily RMT anymore/got banned for it.

How else could you explain this many people who have "their own thoughts" about RMT. Whatever feelings you have about the P99 trading economy are moot.

If it comes down to ANYTHING, its this:

theres like nothing else to discuss. "The Project" can't take the legal risk.
