I don't remember boasting about any of those things, and I am certainly not a follower of the Atkin's diet or a regular drug user. I'm an irregular drug user at most, and you'll never hear me recommending vegetable oil for human consumption.
But the topic is ranch dressing. The world sees us dipping our pizza into it, and destroying perfectly good sandwiches with it, and it's no wonder they hate us. The taste is so strong it overpowers every other flavor it touches, but that's how we like our food: strong, and overpowering. It's one thing to put it on salad (I understand most people dislike the taste of vegetables), but it's the use as a general condiment that really gets to me. The other day I saw a commercial for a ranch dressing powder, to be used as like a meat seasoning or whatever. The woman actually used the phrase "ranch burgers" and I was appalled.
It's as though we actively seek ways to make ourselves unsophisticated and loud, and that has come to include food.
