go for it, nilbog! as classic as possible with spells if you ask me - just a couple months and we're back to "normal"

the 13 months or so of classic is a long time so it will be interesting to have these major patches in between

Tons of posts about banded in this news group from 1999. No mention of fine plate until:

This person conflates cultural armor with fine plate armor (they say cultural but they want black fine plate) . This is the oldest reference i could find to fine plate armor. the rest of that discussion is about fine plate.

Completely different thread about fine plate. OPs words suggest FP was new at this time.

Probably too strong of a conincidence that the first 2 things I could fine both happened within a week of the September 2000 Epic Weapons patch that overhauled tradeskills. I believe cultural smithing and fine plate were added at the same time.

Things that should be tagged this patch:
Ikthars Fine Steel Skin (vendors... how to book)
[Small/Large/""(Medium)] Plate __ Mold (vendors)
Leather Padding (recipe. Only used for Fine plate / cultural)

And it seems like dyes were the same patch, but based on the vendor i visited, it seems like these may already all be flagged correctly for green (not sure about all the ground spawns like Evergreen Leaf, Permafrost Crystals, Jack-O-Lantern Fungus, Sarcoscypha Fungus)

I have been researching the remaining spells. Above all else, I want to ensure these spells can be obtained, if they should be in the game. (research skill)

These are the current research trivial limits. If someone can help research spotcheck these, I can fix prior to release if modifications are needed.

Code:

Magician: Dagger of Symbols    142
Necromancer: Shadow Vortex    41
Necromancer: Summon Dead    95
Magician: Summoning: Earth    62
Magician: Greater Summoning: Fire    95
Magician: Greater Summoning: Air    95
Magician: Conjuration: Fire    162

In the spreadsheet, I see the comment "Anybody try the new magician spells? like dagger of symbols and spear of warding?" tied to May 1999. Above, Dagger of Symbols is researchable at 142. So, does that mean the tradeskill recipe should also be blocked until that time?

Same with Shadow Vortex and Summon Dead.

To the remaining spells, I added a rule for May1999. If all the details of this are not exactly correct, we will fix it.

It is far easier to add merchant availability than it is to remove purchased items.

Thanks for everyone that contributed to this project!

Anytime Nilbog. Green is gonna be glorious.

Give me a few on the research recipes, I will double check them.

Dolalin 10-25-2019 01:16 AM

Dagger of Symbols and Shadow Votex were completely new spells, so they should not be researchable until added. Those recipes should be blocked.

Summon Dead should NOT be blocked. It is a legit necro spell available from launch. It was only made available on vendors for the convenience of SKs when they got the upgrade from Haunting Corpse.

Still looking for research trivials but those don't seem incorrect at first glance.

This post from 2002 gives research trivials as the following:

Quote:

I'd been looking for this information, and I recall others asking here before. I found this collecting dust in Graffe's libarary.
Enjoy.

Spell Research Trivials:

Level 16 Spells - Trivial at 26.
Level 20 Spells - Trivial at 46.
Level 24 Spells - Trivial at 71.
Level 29 Spells - Trivial at 96.
Level 34 Spells - Trivial at 120.
Level 39 Spells - Trivial at 140.
Level 44 Spells - Trivial at 166.
Level 49 Spells - Trivial at 184.
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/alt....Y/RQRCktdSoY8J

So it looks like all of those are a bit off but not by much -- perhaps just a tad easier than intended. This might warrant its own thread actually but for now it seems fine.

Oh, looking at the sheet @Nilbog you missed one:

Song: Fufil's Curtailing Chant

Oh, while you're looking at research Nilbog, there are some recipes that weren't added until September 1999 patch:

Quote:

- Lich and Bond of Death are now researchable for Necromancer s check your tomes.
https://wiki.project1999.com/Patch_N...pell_Changes_2

And one on July 1st patch:

Quote:

- Hungry Earth (Necromancer) can now be researched--see book.
https://wiki.project1999.com/Patch_Notes#July_1.2C_1999

There are fixes to broken recipes in these patches also, but I'm not sure replicating brokenness is necessarily in scope.

So the lvl 24+ magi pet spells have been removed form vendors for now?
