EQ census

Just came across this recently:

http://eqplayers.station.sony.com/ne...2&month=062006

Yeah, I know it's regarding the Combine Server and dates back to 2006.

The reason I found it noteworthy is because it's data from a live server that only included the original races and classes (with the exception of gnome and halfling hybrids).

Biggest noticeable difference I see on P99 versus this data is how much the ranger population grows when the hybrid exp penalty is not in place. The other hybrid populations don't change that much.

Im shocked mages are only 6%

I think it is cool that there is that much diversity between classes / races. To me, this shows that there is a pretty strong balance among the classes and that there is balance among play styles, interests, etc.

Yeah too bad this server is filled with so many greedy power gamers.

You would think the live population would be more like this and the emulated population reliving old times would be more balanced.

Mages are one of the least versatile classes in the game and their pets do not grow in strength post 50 quite the way they do up to 50. Hell even wizards can port, evac, root and snare.

On live groups usually prefered necros, shaman or beastlords to mages. They simply had nothing to offer outside of DS and CoH if you were deep in a dungeon.

Mages in kunark lose their awesomeness quite a bit.

They're not useless by any means, but it would be preferable to just play another dps. You become a glorified coh bot.

That's why mine was leveled with the sole purpose of being a farm bitch to fund a real character.

They didn't have to say "<1%" for erudite paladins. They could just have said 0.
