Looking for advice

Hello everyone. Could you please tell me what is the most useful class in the game? I've never played it; just want to be helpful and find some friends.

Shaman, Enchanter, Bard and Monk are the strongest classes in P99 period. They are the most useful for the most content even with duplicates.

However, with that said, being a Cleric, Warrior, Wizard, or Rogue has specialist usefulness in raids and some strong content. If you like those playstyles, they are solid.

Other classes have some swag, a lot of bullet points, asteriks, if's, and buts. Very few candies and nuts.

A druid is great for helping. You have bind, buffs, heals and ports. They are great in groups of all sizes and as solo.
It is real great to be able to bind yourself anywhere, port yourself to many zones, root your enemy and run off if you are over matched. Shoot, what else would you want? Make food and water? You can do that too!
We report, you decide.
OH, necro is great too.

If you have not figured it out from the last two posts - every class is useful in a way and you should play whatever you desire.

Except a ranger. They're pretty useless.

don't play a druid. they're literally useless on raids. also suboptimal in groups.
in luclin druids received MASSIVE buffs but this server is never going to add luclin.

no raid would ever want a 2nd druid in velious because they can't heal enough to matter and their nukes literally cannot be used. heck even a druid's root breaks mez.

a druid is VERY self sufficient, works in groups or alone, travels well, has much utility. however if you want to be popular and make friends? druids aren't really useful friends. A druid is only a useful friend when he's 40 levels higher than you and doing you favors.

people LOVE making friends with bards/monks/warriors/enchanters/clerics.
shaman's are possibly the best class, yes, I agree with the first reply who said that, however shaman is quite possibly the most played class on the server. I've been in pickup groups that had THREE shamans in one group of 6 just because 30-40% of the players in the zone were shamans. so I've removed shaman from the list of super usefulness that the first reply gave. Also I'd keep in mind warriors are pretty awful until lvl60 because a paladin or shadowknight will just be flat out better at their roll.

stacking up rogues in high level groups or wizards in high level raids is also popular important. classes like mage or necromancer are powerful, alone. they can turn everquest into a single player game, but that's nothing you sounded interested in in your OP.

The holy trinity of tank/healer/dps in p99 is really more the holy quadrinity of puller(CC)/tank/healer/whocares but guess what? the majority of classes fall into that "whocares" role.

Bard is best class, you should do that.

I started an array of characters and some things I noticed

1) Field of Bone is like a super friendly, helpful zone compared to other zones on Blue. Neriak also had its friendly moments.

2) Ive noticed on Daybreak's Phinigel server, there was the same thing with the Iksar newbie area.

3) People really like monks. Or maybe they just like me as a monk? The limits of relative perceptual realities....

4) Some classes are highly gear dependent, like Warriors, Rogues, most melee classes and tank classes - except monk which is pretty kickbutt nekkid, at least at the start. Mages and support can get along without uber gear better, with maybe the exception of Bard.

I've filled up all eight slots with newbies since starting yesterday. They all range from 1st to 3rd. The ones Ive gotten to 3rd are: monk, necromancer, shaman (in order of ease). Honorable mention goes to enchanter. Magician is difficult at first, as you dont get good spells until 4th and basically are a sub par Wizard until then. I didnt really try with warrior, rogue, or ranger because of aforementioned gear dependency. Im saving them for later. I just wanted to make sure I could give each character a name that sounded like Waylay or Waylaid.

you don't have to worry that much about being gear dependent.
for the price of a caster's levelup spells you can buy yourself some decent hand me down twink gear on p99 because low level gear has basically no value in the economy anymore.

I'd just play whatever you like the feel of best, the role of best. although you have to get to level 10or20 or so before roles begin to define themselves much at all.

field of bone is CRAZY friendly, but the east commonlands right outside freeport and the greater faydark right outside kelethin/felwithe are also very friendly as well.

if you start near qeynos you'll make zero friends and think the game is dying. so before giving up on some of your alternate characters make sure to check out the crowded popular hangout spots nearest them. (gnomes can easily walk to the elf starting locations, and while it is hard for ogres/trolls to walk to the human starting location they can do it at level 1 if they're experienced with the terrain.)
