Hate farming
 

So they finally put a name to that thing people do online when they make a false statement then wait for the hate to pour in.

Like "if you can wait in line to be vaccinated, you can wait in line to vote." etc.

They do it cause they want you to reply. They want your hate. The more people reply, the post will go viral that much faster and become part of the american debate.

So next time you see a post on twitter or whatever that says something stupid, false, and provocative they did it on purpose. They want you to reply. They get paid when it goes viral. The grift continues.

Thank you for warning me not to click ‘view post’. I too was dangerously close to thinking this was about forming a crew to muck about in plane of hate.

I only have a lvl 40 cleric... I dont even think I can go to the planes.

Ironically(?) the thread about farming forum hate was itself a hate farm (because it mislead everyone into thinking it was about the Plane of Hate).

Fucking Sherlock Holmes over here. Where would we be without your superior deduction skillz?!

You see this in sports media a lot.

"Top 25 players in the league under 25"

The author puts 4-5 players that are top 10 in the 20-25 spots and it gets shared with everyone outraged while the company makes money off the impression shares for ads selling a ball shaver.

Politicians do (political) rapper beefs and diss tracks too.
