Windows cannot find 'eqgame'
 

Hey folks,

I am an old time eq player looking to start up on the 1999 server. I installed the game and followed all the instructions but just encountered the following error when booting the "Launch Titanium" application.

"Windows cannot find 'eqgame'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, then try again.

I also tried to run eqgame.exe but i get the following message

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022)"

Any thoughts?

I apologize for being dense on this one. Is it the eqgame file i want to make a shortcut of? If i go to properties where exactly do i add patchme

Ok i was able to create a shortcut of eqgame on my desktop and i added patchme to the end of the target line.

Now when i go to open eqgame it says

"the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022)"

Grimjaw here. I am terribly sorry to hear about the troubles that you are encountering. Please allow me to try and assist you with this issue.

Symptom 1: 0xc0000022 error screen

This error is mostly caused by an access problem triggered either by a specific application or by Windows itself.

The error can be triggered by the following:
- files that are corrupted or have accessibility issues
- interference with security software
- missing DLL file

In your case, i suspect the latter two are causing the issue. Specifically, dsetup.dll was quarantined by your antivirus program (dsetup.dll, a custom file provided by p1999 that is required to play).

Proposed Resolution: Launch your antivirus program and whitelist the dsetup.dll file (add to exclusion list), and then replace the dsetup.dll file back into your everquest directory.

Please let me know how you make out with this suggestion.

Still occuring in 2019 (v52)
 

Game been launching just fine since Green server went up. Played earlier today. Just tried to play again and am getting the same error.

I even uninstalled completely, re-installed, and patched (v52), and added both eqgame.exe and dsetup.dll to Windows Defender exception list. Same error.

Help please
