Does CHA really work?

I know that back in the day enchanters and bards were convinced that charisma helped with their charms, but I was never able to find any definitive proof one way or another other than people "feeling" like it lasted longer. Is there any actual official proof that this mechanic does anything on P99, or is it still all just conjecture?

I have read pages where enchanters experimented with their charms naked versus geared. They said the difference was negligible if detectable at all. However, since the plural of anecdote is not data, I have decided to make sure my charmee is tashed at all times.
The above is a really good test. I would consider that patches have occurred since then. Not that it invalidates the test, but I do not know if they patched or ninja patched CHA checks since that time. Just a thought. If I wasn't lazy, I would run a test myself with more samples per category... the RNG is notoriously runny.

P.S. I hope it is involved, CHA is by far my highest stat ;)

@Silo69 Wow, how did you get your CHA up that high? Can you list your gear?

200+ suffers diminishing returns, but is still valuable. You will definitely notice a difference in charms with high cha versus low cha.

I played around with low level enchanter charming before and after I got my cha gear. I went from 115 to 171. It was very easy for me to tell a difference. Now at 23 with my cha buff I sit at 189, and when I duo/trio I often use even and yellow con pets. I know that won't last too much longer, but I have a lot of success with stacked cha. I plan on trying to get 205 base cha so my buff will take it to 255.

I find that in instances of my charisma check failing I can fall back to my experience as a PUA and the mystery method OP.

HTH.

Enchanters/bards: definitely a difference at least to 200 - don't play with under 200 unless you can't afford any more CHA gear.
Druids: definitely not, uses wisdom instead right?
