“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're an imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather.”

I don't deny that most Americans act like postmodern cynics (most with extreme chemical dependency), but I think that's because modern wealth and convenience encourage sloth and cowardice.

Postmodernism and critical theory is a result of the sloth and cowardice produced by modern wealth????

Really, keep talking. This is gold.

That's not even close to what I wrote. Nice hyperbole, though?

You are either blaming postmodernism and critical theory on the sloth and cowardice that you claim convenience and wealth produce, or you are retarded.

Pick one.

false dichotomy man. the biggest issue is the failure of the baby boomer and all that that generation was promising the future in their time. it failed and now we have to clean everything up, but they're still around saying we're right you're wrong and have essentially turned into the things they stood against. funny how if you focus on one thing it shapes what you do...

I have a number of responses, but I think it will be funnier if Alawen gets sloppy tonight and responds himself.

Do you even try to make sense? I'm talking about the behavior of hipsters and internet trolls, which apparently includes you. Postmodernism is a pretty big blanket to try to call an authority for, but, as an example, Fredric Jameson is 79, making him a member of the greatest generation, not a millennial.

I'll try to state my point again so that you can attempt to understand it. The people who try to act too cool for everything (this includes you and most of the posters on this forum) are not enlightened. They are just empowered to be non-contributing jerks by the surpluses of this resource rich and underpopulated country.

Even shorter: your attempts at irony don't portray cool, they portray lazy.
