Wolverine

Saw it last night, was better than I had expected. 3.5/4 would recommend. :)

Hollywood's output has been underwhelming, is this the time to break my sabbatical from the movie theater and watch something awesome?

Better than expected, but not brilliant? Inquiring minds want to know... I'd rather hear it from people that have been than plugged positive newspaper reviews :p

Star Trek Into Darkness
Iron Man 3
Man of Steel
Pacific Rim

To name a few 4 star movies this spring/summer. 1, 3, and 4 are what I'd call "brilliant", Wolverine was "very good" like Iron Man 3. :)

Oz is worth mentioning too. Never thought a movie about a con-artist pimping out wonderland would do a classic justice so perfectly.

Why I don't watch action movies.

Kika Maslyaka 08-04-2013 01:19 PM

underwhelming is an understatement ;)

out of the latest movies I saw: IR3, Wolfy, Rim etc etc, the only one I would consider re-watching is the Lone Ranger. Also, I give B+ to Jack the Giantslayer for a creative way to kill a giant ;)

Other than that, I haven't seen good movies in a WHILE. Specially those that I would want to re-watch since the times of LOTR, original Pirates, X-Men 1+2, Mummy 1+2, Matrix, Gladiator.

The story of a movie doesn't change if you see it at the theater as opposed to on DVD.

One of us knows how to get our money's worth out of visiting a movie theater. ;)

The Lone Ranger? If it wasn't for the mistake made of seeing After Earth, I'd of put that movie as worst flick seen year. :p
I didn't get to see Jack, their advertisement campaign failed and it came and went before I realized it, not gonna see a movie like that on the small screen.

X-Men 1+2? X-Men First Class trumps all of those by a long shot.

Pacific Rim was terrible, you cannot be serious....

Kagatob 08-04-2013 02:02 PM

The only thing that was 'terrible' about Pacific Rim was that it wasn't 3+ hours.

The Chinese and the Soviets got killed off too early IMO. :(

Gwence 08-04-2013 02:23 PM

star trek was good

others you listed werent good, they were ok but I wouldnt call them good, havent seen pacific rim because it looked retarded

its fun to watch shit getting blown up and all but it's pretty rare you find an actual good action movie
