I finally am high enough level to try to camp the AC in South Ro (still a long ways off for the OOT one) but this guy is perma-camped, mostly just people looking to sell it. I don't mind sitting around camping here or there for 2-4 hours at a time (my usual playtime) until I eventually get it but there's no way I can wait 5 hours in line just to have a chance to camp him for however long.

So, it seems lots of people just buy MQ's and I figure as much as I want to camp it myself it'll probably be a lot more fun to just earn some pp and buy one. At 29 I have about 2k saved but I'm sure if I grind away I could make 5-7k eventually. My biggest concern is actually buying the MQ. How can you be sure not to get scammed? Do you pay everything up front? half and half? Are there a few reputable buyers people deal with? That'll be a big chunk of plat for me to lose if it falls thru. I wish I could camp this myself but staring at zombies and spiders for hours on end just for a chance to start a camp for more hours on end doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

generally 95% of the population are legit sellers. Buy from them if they are above like level 45...most wouldn't ruin their reputation for 5k.

Honestly I camped the boots once and would prefer to MQ it hands down. Took me like 27 hours to get a Cyclops spawn.

Probably just my luck, but that's an MQ I'm happy to pay on future characters.

Camped AC in OOT for 18 hours straight not too long ago. Not sure if record...

There's a mafia/guild that runs a jboots racket I heard... you want them, you gotta pay :p

Have heard stories of people seeing the AC pop on the 2nd/3rd spawn, or camp there and its up when they log in... just the way it goes. Put some music on etc, and enjoy :)

I took a guy's spot at the SRO camp after he had been there for hours half way through the 30 min PH spawn cycle. First PH spawned, killed it. Next spawn was the AC. 40 minutes of camping in total. Win.

Also, if you want to camp it, the way I did it was just to find out who was camping it atm, then send them a tell and let them know you want dibs after they leave. A lot of the time no one will be in line and they will gladly shoot you a tell once they leave. That's how I got my spot and that's how the person after me did.

Depending on playtimes, it isn't really camped as often as you might think. Park an alt in sro or something and log it on every time you are gonna play to check if AC is camped before you log on your main to do something else, and bind your main down there so you can just gate over and start camping asap.

Or on red, if you see the AC spawn and someone is camping it.... kill the person camping it, then the AC, then profit.

And then the person rage quits, swears off the server, and there's one less person who plays there.

Thanks, I will probably give that a try also. I was wondering how the etiquette worked here for waiting in line if you weren't in the zone. I've got no problem doing the camp itself (did it a bunch of times on live) it's that waiting in line forever to then do a long camp that really sucks.
