While we are saddened to hear of Sony's decision to once again to close the EQ Mac server, I wanted to extend an invitation to the players of EQMac to consider giving Project 1999 a shot and augmenting our growing community.
Many of the problems that may have recently been the cause of Sony to make this decision, such as an increase in exploit and hacking activity, do not exist on Project 1999 anywhere near the extent that they did recently on EQMac. This projects takes a firm stance against cheating, more so than any EQ Live server has, Mac or otherwise.
Many of you may only have a Mac to play from, in which case I would refer you to a guide our community has put together that may allow you to play Project 1999 from your Mac. This guide can be found here:
http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=56238 . Those of you with a PC can follow the Setup guide to the left as normal.
While our end game may be very competitive, I have heard many positive stories of the kindness and welcoming behaviors present at low and mid levels of our community. Now is a great time to get started, as Velious is soon on the horizon. I have decided to enable a
50% EXP Bonus on both servers as a welcome to any new players. This bonus will last until later this week, at which point it will bump down to a 20% Bonus, and then back up to 50% again when the EQMac server officially closes on November 18th.
Our existing players are free to spread the word to any EQMac friends they have, but as usual please adhere to the policies of any message boards you are posting on. This means no posting and/or spamming about Project 1999 on official Sony forums.
Thanks!
