Anyone else suffer from my addiction?

I've been playing P99 for a few weeks now and I still can't decide on a main.

Not at all, I only have the bare necessities when it comes to characters.

Kidding aside, alting is like when you play an RTS and spread your civilization out too quickly for the infrastructure to support it.

Even tho I have a ton of chars now, it went like this.. I used to be basically an anti-alter.

Shaman 1-54
Created cleric
Cleric 1-54
Shaman/Cleric 55-60 basically simultaneously
Created bard
Bard 1-51
Created druid
Druid 1-51
Created enchanter
Enchanter 1-48
Long lull with no new chars
Created war
War 1-17

This server changed my status from altaholic to main only lol, because on this server to me it feels like:

1-20 fun times
30-50 zomg why am I still here (oh yeah, 40+ will be cool)
50-55 meh, I got skills, and there aren't many red cons when I wander anymore

point being for me end game is 50-60, on most EQ servers I have often spent the most time leveling a character versus enjoying some of the other aspects (gearing out, questing, helping others etc.) being 50+ has been a lot of fun here because while at times groups can be difficult to get into there is always some kind of content I can help others out with. I was quite happy to break the habit of altaholic with the amount of time it can take to level a toon here, but then again before doing so I spent probably a couple of years on and off considering what I wanted my main's end game to be, ultimately deciding initially I want a druid mainly because of convenience of travel among other reasons.

*edit* you also don't have to AA here which was really appealing to me haha

Although end game is only part of it, the other part (and probably the more relevant part of the game) is what is fun for you to do with a group, or level solo.. being over 50 certainly makes alting a little more fun to consider again.

Not really an issue here, Started the way I wanted to , with a caster to help me solo and get gear to twink my main warrior. Once i got even more money made a monk, cleric was given to me due to his main being banned. Finished getting them all 60 and holding one for a naggy/mess around toon

Totally with you. Never got past 20 or so on Live because I kept making alts. On P99 I have a character of every class except ranger (and I'd probably have a ranger if I had the money to heavily twink him). I think the key is not to delete characters - have a couple of accounts if you need to, play whatever class you feel like, and eventually one of them will hit 60 :p
