Time Waster

Stuck on a rig in Saudi Arabia for 2 more weeks. During my downtime I have run out of things to do, being that I had to pack light.

Internet is slow and blocks iTunes, App Store, Apple Bookstore, YouTube, so I have read all my books and listened to all my music.

It does allow most other websites. I have played too many games of CurveBall (didn't think that was possible 5 weeks ago, before arriving), so does anyone else have any ideas for a good time waster to help these last 14 days go by?

Thank you in advance.

Scribd might be worth a look? (if it isn't blocked)...for reading stuff.

Can you play Project 1999? :p

Thanks, Swish.

No I can't play P99 - I did not bring my own laptop, which I typically play on, because I'm already required to use 2 work-provided laptops while in-country... a 3rd would just be too much of a hassle when going through immigration/customs.... especially when coming in/going out of a country like this (note for any one travelling to Saudi Arabia : avoid Dammam airport at all cost, fly in to Bahrain, get a taxi, and go over the King Fahd causeway in to Saudi - just stop at the border to get your fingerprints scanned if first time/new visa).

Even if I did have my own laptop, the internet is far too slow to support anything other than light browsing and e-mails.

Anyone else have any recommendations? I've exhausted The Chive, I now hate everyone on Facebook, I ventured in to RnF forum and cried for a large chunk of our population, I've read the ASOIF series, read The Stand, and have listened to enough Lucero, Drive-By Truckers, and Hank III to be further depressed - need something pleasant and mind-numbing.

Thank you, again, in advance.

Do they have titty bars or brothels in Saudi Arabia? I am guessing no...

Really limited here without the internet connection.

Could build sand castles...

Nah, that would be more of Bahrain's thing. I'm stuck on the rig in the desert.

I did, however, find a nice post sticking out of the ground a ways from the camp - I've gotten pretty good at pegging it with the rocks.

At least replying to this thread has helped a little. Thanks.
