Is it possible to modify a newer UI?
 

Of course it's possible, technically speaking.

Long story short, I've been using pieces of this UI since 2003, and I lost the files necessary to run it on the P99 client in an unfortunate hard drive crash. I've pieced together some of it from the parts that still work, like the chat windows/spell bar/spell icons, but the rest remains broken. A lot has changed with EQ's UI in 7 years, and the player/target/group/spell effects windows in today's download are no longer compatible.

Is it possible to restore the functionality of these pieces from this 2010 version?

After digging into the XML files, starting with the player window, I see that the XML files are calling elements like "A_Drakah_GaugeBackground" for the backgrounds of the HP/Mana/Endurance/EXP gauges.

I have, however, searched through all of the XML files and cannot find where these things are being declared.

In the mean time, I have removed the guages and at least got the player window working. That's a start.

Major progress. ;) Brainstorming in my own thread is a big help.
