Installation help please!!!

Ok, so I have Titanium downloaded and installed, and I followed P99's "getting started" thread, but still need help. I deleted the files they say to delete, and moved other files into a backup folder, like eqtheme.mp3, etc.

P99 "getting started" says to be sure not to patch the game, or you have to delete it and reinstall it. Ok, I get that. What I'm stuck on is...

Quote:

Install Everquest Titanium to a fresh directory. This directory must be separate from any live Everquest installs and dedicated to EQEmulator.
This is vague info to me. How do I do that? I have the game downloaded, but I only downloaded it without creating a "fresh directory" or dedicated to EQEmulator, etc. I have an EQ icon on my desktop. If I double-click the icon, it will immediately start patching, so... what do I need to do next? Thanks!!!!

It means that when the install pops up asking you where you want it to be installed, you set a custom directory. Instead of it saying something like c:\program files(x86)\Everquest, that you should change it to something like c:\Project1999.

Thanks guys. Well, I got to step 4 of Derubael's link, but when I changed the target, a popup window said "path not valid" or something like that. My target path right now is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" Don't give up me guys! I've got to be so close!!! lol

You need to replace the target path in step 4 with your target path. So, in your instance, it will be "C:\program files (x86)\sony\everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

As a side note, I would highly recommend installing everquest to C:\everquest instead of your program files folder. It is worth the time to move your installation directory to C:\

It will save you headaches later on.

Also all you should have to do is cut - paste the directory, you don't have to install titanium again to move it. EQ can run from just about anywhere. I.e you can copy the folder to flash drive/external drives and run from other computers as long as you create a new shortcut from eqgame.exe

I agree that moving it out of Program files (especially in newer versions of Windows) will save you headaches. But there is a typo with your link, Deru. The correct link should be:
Quote:

"C:\program files (x86)\sony\everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme
Because the program files (x86) folder contains spaces, the folder path requires quotes to pass it as a single string instead of the four strings C:\program, files, (x86)\sony\everquest\eqgame.exe, and patchme.

Fixed, also bolded a section. Hopefully if OP reads this he'll take that advice to heart.
