New to 1999

Hey guys, I heard about this server through some friends in another game the other night. I was curious if there is any way I can get the ball rolling on here without having a copy of the original kunark CD's on hand?

If you search the forum you can easily find an answer for this, but here's the short version: if you talk to your pirate friends, over at their bay, you just might find a copy of EverQuest Titanium (which is the version you need).

P.S. Welcome :)

If you SEARCH FOR EVERQUEST TITANIUM long enough you will find it.

Die hard gamer... but I never download anything from jack sparrow much less anywhere else. I just tried to create an account on there and they wanted my CC info and such. hints the reason I stay clear of sights like that.

You have good web security instincts, but you don't need to create an account at all: just search for whatever (totally legal, of course) software you want, click the magnet link, tell your bit torrent client to go ahead, and you're set. You can trust that the file you are downloading is safe by:
A) virus scanning it
B) trusting the wisdom of the crowds; with bit torrent, you need people seeding for it to work, and if someone discovers that a file has a virus, they won't seed it

If you still don't feel comfortable, there's always EBay, but remember you need Titanium specifically (and it won't be cheap).

Part of my handy dandy instructions say "Dont click on anything else on the website" and even more detail regarding your concerns.

I don't even have a bit torrent client, haha. I am so computer illiterate.

I'm mainly a Linux user, but when I'm on Windows I use the (free) uTorrent client. Just google for it, install it, then go click that magnet link.

Dude you are part of a huge mass of people (myself included) that find getting into the game a huge obstacle because we are not crafty with computers lol.

I still havent started playing because i view it as a headache. I have been trying to get the developers to make a comprehensive, idiot proof guide for setup for over 2 years.

I think there are legal issues that hinder that from happening.

lots of people will help you out here though so dont get discouraged, its apparently real easy once its explained.

This is happening: Derbuai put out the call for just such a guide, and I answered. It's basically done and I'm just waiting for feedback from him right now. Once I get that the guide will be put on the wiki and in a stickied thread here.

It WON'T however cover the downloading part (for obvious reasons), but it will cover stuff like using virtual disk software to load the ISOs.
